Sign the Beast LXI: TE Colt Lyerla looking for one last chance...

While very stupid that was also many months ago, has he cleaned up his act since then?

So has Justin Blackmon.........

Colt Lyrela is welcome to go try and get another chance, I don't want him on the Patriots. He's a moron.

While very stupid that was also many months ago, has he cleaned up his act since then?

That very stupid act came after he supposedly "cleaned up his act." After being suspended for a game in college for missing team activities and never going to classes. After quitting the team. After having his driver's license suspended following a series of traffic incidents. After being arrested for cocaine possession. After 32 teams took a close look at him in a TE-scarce draft class and decided he wasn't worth the risk. After he gave lots of interviews talking about what a changed man he now was.

As someone stated, he entered the NFL draft with major question marks, goes undrafted, and after getting a second chance as a UDFA the first thing he does is prove his doubters right.

His head isn't in it.

We also just brought in Chandler who has some talent and has at least produced. I'm happy with the TE spot as-is for at least 2015.

The statement is what bothers me. "A lot of bad mistakes were made in the past." Where's the "I" or "me" in that sentence? Clown can't take responsibility for his actions when it would do him a world of good to do so.

Passive voice. F--- this guy.

I'd rather a tight end who ends a sentence with a preposition. That rule isn't even a real rule. But passive voice? PASSIVE VOICE? Oh hell to the no.

Oh also, no more murderers. That's important too.

Passive freakin' voice.

PS, can we change the title to Colt Lyeria: One More Chance is Being Looked For?

Someone who has a bigger need at TE will still decide not to sign him.

You didn't answer my question, you just restated your position.

He voiced a stupid opinion which he likely rushed into and didn't bother to do any research on, and later apologized for, what sense does it make to decide he's unforgivable when Belichick has hired guys who have PHYSICALLY ASSAULTED people?

I did answer your question you just don't like my answer. I'm just going to let this go and let's just leave it as it's personal to me and you're welcome to your opinion.

There are plenty of spots left to fill on the offseason roster. There's not really any reason not to bring him in for at least a chat, unless the team simply isn't sold on his talent.

He voiced a stupid opinion ...and later apologized for

He apologized for what, exactly? Certainly not for what he said! He apologized for the fact that lots of people noticed what he said!

He apologized for "getting involved in such a personal matter on such a public platform, and I'm apologetic to my teammates and my coaches and the program overall for doing that... it was a bad idea because of the position I'm in"

then he strongly suggested that he takes NOTHING back:

"But on the same note, I would never want to discourage anyone from having their own opinion or raising questions like that"

The fact that 32 teams passed on him 7 times in a poor TE's draft is extremely telling, even his former coach Chip Kelly didn't take a chance. Scouts and FO's must have a lot of extra info on him that didn't get public, this guy must be unmanageable.

NO.

I agree, at this point in the season there's no harm in bringing players in who are talented on minimum-type deals and giving them the axe if they don't produce or still have problems. I can't see how signing him to a tiny one-year deal would hurt anything.

Well now that we know Hernandez isn't going to be able to play we do have to consider his replacement...

This kid is perfect he has everything it takes to dominate in Shirley max.
