Seing Valentine listed as questonable is certainly a great news considering ..

not for tomorrow it seems .. but at least short term ..

Have to see who makes the trip, then GTD.

The guy I'm worried about is Cannon. He hasn't practiced this week so I'm pretty sure he won't play. That means we are down to Flemming and Waddle at RT.

Cannon was back at practice today. Probably limited, but he was there.

Not really .. they could f.e. still not activate Ninko for the game.

They most probably will - especially with McClellin out and Freeny banged up - hence “technically“.

You're saying what I'm saying, but you're taking the "active" part further down the road than I was going. You can't practice without being part of the 53, or the practice squad, unless you're on an exemption. Brady and Nink are practicing/active, but they have the exemptions, which means the Patriots could actually practice with 55 plus the practice squad, instead of the usual maximum of 53 plus the practice squad.

It is academic at this point since they will activate both today, I agree, but the exemption kept them out of 53 (they were part of the team but didn't count against 53 roster). At the beginning of the week there were some speculations if Ninkovich will be activated for this Sunday since they need at least one roster spot for a DT in my opinion and that way they could avoid another cut at this moment. Once it was clear that he is good to go and that McClellin is out and Freeny banged up that option almost certainly came off the table.

All expect they are both activated for Sunday making it a full 53 roster.
Additionaly I would expect at least one more roster move today - adding a DT from PS (A Johnson, Hamilton)
Could be more if they are ready to cut more guys to back up RB position f.e. (Sankey)

They can choose to risk it - and go into this game without backup for Blount (hurt hip) and DT (dangerously big load for Brown and Branch) - and make moves later.

As Miguel mentioned - cutting guys like Derby, E Roberts or Foster at the end of the week gives them best chances to clear waivers. Let's hope so.

Expected .. now let's see if he improved in the last month.
And who gets cut ..

It sounds like DT Woodrow Hamilton has been promoted from the practice squad to the 53-man roster for tomorrow's game.

The Patriots signed DT Woodrow Hamilton off their practice squad, per source. Adds depth with Vincent Valentine nursing a back injury.

So Valentine appears to be out. One roster spot remains for Brady and Nink. Somebody doesn't get a chair.

End of Cooper saga .. So sorry to hear that. And its costly. But at least we know where we are.

EDIT: A new beginning of who won the trade saga ..

4 years of Thuney + 4 years of Mitchell + $5 million in cap space is still > 1 year of Jones + 2018 3rd Round Comp pick.

No chance I would reverse this trade even if I had the chance.

Hamilton is most likely on the roster just for this week (or until VV comes back at the most).
This still remains a very thin position .. and since it is a key position for SB run in my view .. its worth monitoring in the next weeks. After Hamilton goes back to PS will they bring on A Johnson or are they monitoring other options? It seemed in the preseason that they really want 4 big bodies.

Kind of sounds like Cooper isn't done here unless he's claimed on waivers. Curran, Lombardi, and Llyoko have all hinted at such.

Yep. I'd sure love at least to see what he's got under Dante. He did have him as starter from June on.

And here a little something about the new roster member before we see him in action (from Reiss):

Anticipating a move with the 6-foot-3, 315-pound Hamilton on Friday, coach Bill Belichick had been asked about his progress on the practice squad.

"He’s working hard. He’s a big, strong, physical player," Belichick said.

He was part of a notable story in training camp when third-year center Bryan Stork threw punches in his direction after a pass rush that Stork apparently felt was a bit too aggressive.

To round up latest roster moves:

QB Brady in Brissett to IR
TE Scruggs in Harbor cut
DE Ninkovich in DT Johnson to PS
DT Hamilton in G Cooper waived (temporary move for one or both)
_

That Sankey was not promoted in a week without Bolden and banged up Blount is not the best sign for him.
With Brady back more work for White and possibly Foster. Latest roster moves certainly good sign for DJ (at least until Lewis returns).
_

More roster moves to follow in the next couple of weeks.
Positions to monitor:
DT - Valentine's injury? how ready is Hamilton? is Johnson coming back? another big body?
RB - how serious is Bolden's injury? does Foster get a chance w TB? how soon is Lewis coming back? Reece option?
TE - what's the use of Scruggs in O? will Derby's snaps increase?
LB - does E Roberts get to see the field?
DB - there are 12 healthy men now at this positions which seems excessive. many things to watch with Rowe slowly coming in the mix. what happens to snap counts of Coleman, Richards?

plus monitoring STs: what changes w Bolden out and Scruggs, Rowe in?
_

BTW - looking at roster you can see BB added at least one rookie to every position except TE (w 2y Derby)
