Raiders ready to give Mcdaniels full power? Reputable source?

Mike McDaniel Kevin o Connell, would love to bring on Joe Brady

Mac was a very polished QB before he met Mcdaniels.
I don’t think this will break him.
This isn’t like we got a guy with little to no football IQ who needs to learn the game.
This just means Bill will be more hands on with Mac if he doesn’t 100 percent trust Josh’s replacement.
This also means Josh wasn’t the heir to the throne if he does leave.
Just because a QB is polished coming out of college doesn't mean they develop into a top 10 QB. Mac has a ways to go physically and with his overall game.

This isn't a matter of Mac breaking. It's not the end of the world however it's a matter of continuing to further his development. Josh is in a great position to do that. Now that is jeopardized by swapping another OC in. Takes time to develop chemistry if at all.

I don't want Bill more hands on with the offense and Mac. He needs to get the D right and have the freedom to fix problem areas like STs

I couldn't care less if he was the heir.
I’d rather Mac changes OCs now vs two or three years from now. He’s young and green enough to hit the reset button, and this team isn’t winning the SB next year anyway.

This is assuming that the next guy is competent. And that the next guy sticks around for several years.
Would Charlie leaving after 2001 been good for Tom?

Chemistry is key. We'll see how this shakes out.

I’m not saying it would be good if Josh leaves. But less bad now than down the road when Mac is getting entrenched in a system.

I don’t know, too many ifs I guess. I hope Josh stays but if he doesn’t I’d like to get the divorce done asap. My parents stayed together in their miselrable marriage for way too long “for the kids” and it sure did mess me up. But my sister seems good and maybe that’s Mac.

Unless Bill loses his mind, the system will be E/P in 2022. OCs have come and gone but the system stays.

I hear you on the marriage issue but I don't think there is a problem b/t/w Josh and Mac. Is there.....?

I'd like them to stay together for 2-3 more years. AKA Charlie and Tom 01-04. Once Charlie left Tom was seasoned enough to collaborate with 2005 Josh and not be dictated to.

Being dictated to is what worries me about some hard-head like BOB stepping in.

Hire Charlie Weiss

He can coach up Mac and the offense for Mac's first contract.

Would be a bummer to lose Josh because continuity is huge for young QBs. That said, as long as BB and Mac those Monday 1on1s where BB gives him a glimpse into his treasure trove of knowledge I think we will be ok.

I agree with those who say that Belicheck should focus on the defense, and on making sure the ST's are improved.

Comments:

- BoB ran a good two TE offense the last time he was here…

- Gase was the OC for the 2013 Broncos…just sayin’

- I have seen enough of Mac to know that he’s the real deal. Whoever is coming in probably won’t radically change this offense…it is clear what the strengths are (top 10 OL, top 5 RB room…if we count White, top 8 TE room..Asiasi is the #3, deep WR corps that lacks a #1…I like everybody from #2-#6, and now a 2nd year QB who finished with similar stats as the Ryan Tannehills of the league during his rookie year)…only personnel will transform this offense. The new OC will have more of the same EP offense we have seen for 20 years with different wrinkles…BB is the coach and it is how we have played for twenty years as well as allocated resources to….

OL
I agree that we have a top 10 OL, presuming re-signing of Karras and Brown. Even then, Herron as backup LT is a weakness.
I expect an extension for Mason to free up some cap money. Although folks here won't like it, an extension for Wynn will certainly be considered, freeing up cap space.

WR
I expect that we will draft a WR with one of top 4 draft picks. My gut feeling is that Agholor will be extended, freeing up cap space. Alternatively, Agholor could be cut and someone else brought in at a cap cost of $5M (we would then eat Agholor's dead money, and have no cap savings).

We will also bring in the usual suspects to compete for #4 WR and in case of injury. Hopefully, the draftee would take those reps.

I like DJ Chark if he could be had I would be thrilled.
He is much better than Agholar.

If McD leaves, what if Bill makes Brian Belichick the OC?

Don't sell yourself short. Have you felt some of the dysfunction of other posters on this site
Your one of the normal ones

at least no one would ask anymore to interview Pats OC/DC until BB retires

2022 Coaching Staff
OC: BOB
DC: Brian
ST : Joe Fudge

McDaniels & Ziegler to the raiders
Mayo to the texans
Flores doesn’t get a HC job
McDaniels highest paid coordinator salary is split between BOB & Flores
Pats receive two 3rd round picks from Mayo getting hired as a HC

Here's the rub. Need a young enough guy to stick around, like Josh did with Tom. Wonder what his relationship with Steve Sarkisian is? He might be a little old, and he has a good job with Texas.
Continuity through the development phase doesn't have to come from the OC. JMD's involvement with Brady started when he was a young, unknown QB coach. I think the role of JMD in Brady's early days has been lost in the shuffle. I would not mind seeing Hoyer join the coaching staff to help Mac and the other QB's to allow a new OC to focus on bigger picture concerns. This is more important for Mac if the new OC is BOB, or some other hard ass. Not that I think he is overly sensitive, everyone needs their safe place to work through feedback and stay on an even keel.

Not a buzz word phase I associate with football, generally.

We need one of Lassos trick plays to pull that off.
