Raiders ready to give Mcdaniels full power? Reputable source?

With all due respect I’m on record of not lamenting the Ziegler loss.
After watching Mcdaniels the last few years this offense is very effective but very predictable.
I feel that when the opponent is a top tier defense their is no element of surprise the last few years.
Maybe it’s the lack of a mobile QB impacting the playbook.
I think I am ok with a change.

I can’t be the only one who thinks McD is a fantastic OC. Some fans might think every drive must end with a TD. Maybe they think an OC with limited personnel should dominate on every single play….

McDaniels is a top shelf O.C.

McDaniels is a top shelf O.C.
The real question : will his leadership skills be better this time around. In Denver, despite some success at times, all accounts are that he didn’t build the type of relationships you need to succeed.

Time will tell. I have to think Vegas didn’t bother to have him come in if they thought he’d pull an Indy on them. And McD surely didn’t bother going through this unless he felt confident. The team up w Z might be the clincher.

Agree you and your best friend running a team.
That’s the stuff dreams are made of.
Interesting Bill didn’t see him as the heir or plans on coaching 10 more years.
We may see Judge as HC here in the future or Flores.
I just have that suspicion.

Now that the Zeigler-McD to LV rumors are hot again, it's time to review choices for a new OC. BOB would be the logical choice to maintain continuity. However, if BB wants to shake things up on offense, Gase might not be a bad move.

I hear you.

I'm not saying that McDaniels didn't screw the pooch in Denver. From most accounts, he tried to impose a system which is difficult to impose on organizations that haven't already been running that way in recent years. But, when people talk about the McDaniels troubles in Denver, they tend to overlook the fact that his two best players (at least arguably), were complete assholes for one reason or another.

Cutler was an overrated clown who took down not one, but 2 teams over the course of his career. And, as pretty much his first move upon McDaniels showing up, he demanded a trade, thus completely screwing the new HC.

Here's the illustrious Cutler's Bears career, after gaining his "freedom" from Denver:

Marshall was a problem guy who ended up needing all kinds of meds and therapy.

Does that mean that McDaniels would have been fine without that nonsense? No. We've seen the difficulty in bringing the BB-style structure to other organizations (We've also seen a couple of guys who obviously weren't cut out to be head coaches, right Mr. Judge and Mr.Patricia?). O'Brien pulled it off, but couldn't get on the same page as his GM. Flores was getting it done but, again, seemed to have problems with his GM, and others. The ability to play well with others does not seem to be a trait that gets emphasized in New England.

So time will tell. But the idea that McDaniels is a bad O.C. is ridiculous.

No judge please... Flores maybe a yes..

With the way NFL has evolved we might need a offensive minded coach like shanahan or McVay.

And for the love of the game please draft wide receivers this draft within first 3 rounds ...

Well if Obrein comes you know he’s not taking on any players with questionable morals.
We will be like the anti chiefs from a character perspective.

Jay Cutler, blah, blah, blah

Mike McDaniel Kevin o Connell, would love to bring on Joe Brady in some capacity.
Gase is interesting I think he is a lot better Oc than a head coach.

You’re not. He’s a good OC. But HC may be where he reaches his level of incompetence.

Gase was absolutely awesome for the development of Tannehill and Darnold.

Gase.. seriously... I wish bill gets a proper DC and OC now. I wouldn't be averse to Joe Brady but just feel he also benefitted from chase and burrow being in tandem. You can see how those two have elevated Bengals. And after burrow left Coach O has been kicked out..

What about Lincoln Riley?

This sucks
Mac was a very polished QB before he met Mcdaniels.
I don’t think this will break him.
This isn’t like we got a guy with little to no football IQ who needs to learn the game.
This just means Bill will be more hands on with Mac if he doesn’t 100 percent trust Josh’s replacement.
This also means Josh wasn’t the heir to the throne if he does leave.

I’d rather Mac changes OCs now vs two or three years from now. He’s young and green enough to hit the reset button, and this team isn’t winning the SB next year anyway.

This is assuming that the next guy is competent. And that the next guy sticks around for several years.

Here's the rub. Need a young enough guy to stick around, like Josh did with Tom. Wonder what his relationship with Steve Sarkisian is? He might be a little old, and he has a good job with Texas.
