This seems . . . Unwise.

When the new league year starts, teams will be allowed to trade picks in the 2026, 2027, and 2028 drafts.** This proposal would, if in force today, allow trades to include 2029/2030 picks, too.

**The 2029 picks become available on draft weekend.

Just in time for Arch Manning.

“We’ll give you 5 first rounders for the #1 overall…”

Yeah that was my first thought - crazy hauls for 5 years' worth of first rounders plus 2nd rounders, etc... mortgaging half a decade of top end talent for a player... crazy...

Do. NOT. Like.
Stupid franchises will obliterate themselves Plus inflating trade "costs" for the other teams.

Proposed by Les Snead, Howie Roseman or Jerruh perhaps?

Meanwhile in Cleveland Jimmy Haslam is warming up for it...

This is like when the incorporated long-term disability as a permanent benefit in my workplace. The union, after soooooo many weirdos who couldn’t bother to call and get it added (and then needed it), just negotiated it to save us from ourselves.

Here, the stupid GMs need to be saved from themselves. Bad idea.

I so want the Pats to own all of the Jet's first round picks for the next five years! The player you traded to get the pick could easily be retired by the time you made the pick!

The NFL is gonna ruin their league like the nba. Gms can't help look over their shoulders now when they start panicking trading assets to save their job.

The nba had to give amnesty to teams so they could void 1 contract several years ago cause they were so badly mismanaged.

100m a year average QB pay INCOMING!!!!!!!!! (I know its different) I think this is a bad idea but I'm sure the NYFL and their owner overlords will be all over it.

I HATE this aspect of the NBA. Maybe GMs feel differently, but it seems to dilute the trade market and the draft.

Honestly not sure that it's going to happen. It takes 3/4 of owners to pass, and I could see a bunch of them thinking the current system saves GMs/owners from bad mistakes.

Hopefully this is irrelevant to our team, since only a goddam fool of a GM would take advantage of this asinine "option." The Jets will be all over this sort of ********.

Why one earth would you trade 5 R1s? Let's say you're getting prime Tom Brady, circa 2007. ****, circa 2013 or 2017 even. How are you going to build around him to win?

It's irrelevant because we already have our franchise QB. This will happen with teams chasing their franchise QB and trying to outbid each other for the 1st overall pick annually.

To stupid owners, getting the "name" at QB is more important than the rest of the team because it gets butts in seats. They have a "star QB" so people will pay to come watch him play and the media will pay attention to their team, even if the rest of the roster is dog ****.
