Thank God Tiger won today - the national sports media can blather on about that tomorrow and give less attention to the Pats.
Post of the night

I’m not even sure he blew that. The safety was guarding no one at the end. A crosser usually gets picked up by the free safety.
Yeah, Gilmore clearly expected safety help. Can't say for sure if he was supposed to get it on that play, so it's hard to pin the blame on him.

Overall Gilmore has been a bright spot, not sure why he of all people is attracting negative attention.

If BB were somehow to get a top 10 pick in the next year or two, I'm pretty sure he'd try to trade down into the 11–20 range, because the fifth-year option becomes much cheaper.

I'm just saying with the way BB has been drafting lately in essence the pick that we got in return for a known commodity was peanuts. I never get excited when we trade away good contributors for draft picks. I understand the cap comes into play but i would have rather kept cooks 1 more year with Brady another year closer to retirement.

Benching Butler. It didn’t start the issues BUT it amplified them all.
Obviously, it didn’t work out, but I’m not really going to keep beating a dead horse over Bill Belichick making a personnel decision.

I don’t agree that it’s still affecting team morale almost 8 months later. I think the players who were anywhere close to vocal about it (Brady, Amendola, Gronk, Butler) are either gone or are the type of generational players who will continue to produce at a high level, no matter what.

What’s hurting this team is a lack of a running game, piss poor receiving options, no depth/injuries/suspension at certain areas, and a bad plan on defense.

But were assuming he even drafts that high. We all know he would have traded down. I'm just saying BB's track record for drafting hasn't been that good recently. I remember when the trade went down and people were happy about it and I was telling them it's hard for me to get excited about trading a good player for a pick that is most likely either going to turn out good only to be traded 2 years later or an injury prone bust. Looks like I was right on the latter.

So Wynn is a bust already? Unbelievable.

So I get all this criticism of the defense and the playcalling, but is Brady getting a pass? He played like **** also. No urgency
well, I think I saw him screaming on the sidelines multiple times in the 1st half trying to get the offense revved up. Let's face it, the OL played like corpses today. The first three possessions Brady played what was called...it was the calls that sucked the life out of the offense IMO. I take it as a postive that Brady made it through this game unhurt. The right side of this O line is putrid.

I agree. Him, Wise and Flowers are unassailable for me. Those 3 are fine and play hard and seem to give it their all.

Gordon and the return of Edelman will do wonders for this offense. It'll open up more running lanes for Michel, give Gronk and Hogan more room to operate, and create situations for Patterson's skill-set to be exploited.

I'm a bit concerned about the offensive line. I've never been huge fans of Thuney and Andrews, and Mason doesn't appear to be improving this season. Cannon and Brown look great ... the interior, not-so-much. That said, the offensive line doesn't look awful and improvement at the skill positions should take some pressure off of them.

The offense will be fine ... better than fine, in fact.

I'm more concerned about the defense, but there's time to improve there.

You're ignoring the obvious here: Edelman and the potential of Gordon. Saying that they've replaced the Cooks/Amendola/Lewis receptions with nothing is a bridge too far. We can argue that the failure to get anything beyond the return of Edelman (his 4 game pop isn't the fault of BB) is major, but we can't blame the team for JE11's failed piss test.

If Edelman can be, say, 85%-90% of JE11, and Gordon can become a productive member of the offense, the passing game should actually be better than last year's, once it clicks in.

I'm not saying that we shouldn't be pissed about the current product on the field. Anyone who's not pissed about it is an idiot, or a fan of another team. But we have to remember some of the reasons why it's currently like it is, both for good and for bad.

I’ve seen quite a few so called “fans” have this sick pleasure on what’s going wrong with this team either in the GDT or posting side topics off the GDT. Pretty sad honestly

Got to stay on the field. Right? That's part of the deal. Whether it's the players fault or not.

But what you want is a fortune teller to let you know which players will never get injured. And in the case of Wynn, we're certainly not talking about someone that came with red flags that showed an injury was likely.

And we can't just pretend that Cooks would be immune from any bad luck injuries if he was still a Patriot.

Even I felt bad for Brady tonight. Gronk was getting double-teamed harder than a porn star, and the WRs... damn... they made Detroit's CBs look like Revis and Prime. No separation whatsoever. There was NOWHERE to throw the ball.

There's no good excuse for losing to the Lions, but things are gonna change quickly with Gordon and Edelman.

Did 32 play today, honest question...

I wonder why rivers isnt getting playing time. Usually BB plays his 1st rounder front 7 players early.

I will admit that during the game I was pessimistic, negative, and pretty miserable in the GDT. The second the game ended I flipped the switch to being more rational and optimistic.

I think the latter outlook is not only the more uplifting view, but also the more accurate view. With that said, when you're witnessing the team play as poorly as they did tonight and there's nothing you can do, it's quite an upsetting feeling. I suppose venting in the GDT is a means of unloading those uncomfortable emotions, but certainly not a good look. Apologies for my rhetoric during the game. I'll try to take a deep breath prior to clicking "Post Reply" for future games.

That may not be a bad thing. He for sure played last week, looked foolish on a few plays.

Secondary as a whole wasn’t the issue. Now the front 7...

Thank you for your class and honesty. It'd be easy (and, quite frankly, understandable) to pile on after tonight's game but you took the high road with that post. It's much appreciated and says a lot about you.
