Pats @ Eagles Superbowl X's & O's ONLY!

I'm listening to, and reading, all sorts of reports about how the Eagles can do "x" better than the Jaguars, and other comments along those lines. One thing I'm not seeing pointed out is the Eagles relative lack in usage of the RBs in the passing game. If the Eagles don't change that, it will be a definite help to the Patriots, because it will take one of the LB problems off the table.

Great point. The injury to Sproles really took away the only consistent dynamic passing back they had.

On offense I expect us to run a heavy dose of rub routes:

That's a really good breakdown. Loved the talk about setting up the double move. I think the Pats tried setting up the double move against Jax with Cooks with all of the outs they threw, but Bouye wouldn't bite. And if they were able to get him to bite later in the game, Gronk was gone so safety help was guaranteed.

Atlanta also never bit on the double move in SB51, so the sideline deep comeback was open the whole 2nd half...which Brady gladly took repeatedly.

Regards,
Chris

Thanks for all this. You just saved me hours of research putting together some number crunchers

Np man, that's what the thread is for.

OUTSTANDING job. Thanks for putting in the effort that none of us is willing to do. It will take a while to get through all this to discuss all the info you presented with any intelligence. But just a quick note.

On the surface, the "attack 9" that Schwartz is using sounds suspiciously like the wide-tackle 6 that we ran in college for a few years back in the mid 60's. I'm sure his is a lot more complex than ours was, but it only goes to show how 'nothing is really new in football'.

God, I love these kinds of thread. Thank's to PP2 for doing all the legwork initially, plus all the others who found links to interesting articles. SOOOOOO much information. For me, at least, it will take a while to absorb it, so I'm saving my comments until later in the week.

But that being said, I felt the need to say thanks for all the work I am never willing to do myself.

I've been saying this the whole time...PHI is predominantly a physical team with size whereas ATL's RBs last year were fast... we match up better with size than speed so this should theoretically serve us well.

They have used their WR Agholor in the flat FWIW.

Sorry I didn't mean to pre-empt your thread. I know you said you were going to start one- it's just that there was so much info coming out already so that I felt like I had to start keeping track of them.

But that at least lends itself to DB coverage, which should be better for the Patriots.

BGC, awesome stuff as always

I think highly of Darby and Robinson athletically especially speed wise, but both can be had physically and schematically and of course Mills as you mentioned is a liability at times.

I don’t see their secondary being able to stop us unless they’re dline rotation becomes very dominant, which I don’t think it will because they are bad vs TEs and their backers can’t cover our RBs like Jax did.

Just need to be patient and not turn the ball over. Punting is OK and we can still score 7-10 points per quarter.

Lots of pass attempts forth coming. Run game isn’t going to be effective largely or wear them down.

I keep hearing that the Eagles have the league's best depth on the DL. Wouldn't the Pats be able to counter that by going no-huddle? It's great that they have eight guys to rotate in so that they stay fresh, but you have to think that the Pats are aware of that and will seek to avoid letting them substitute at will.
