Pats are either One or Three Seed.. not likely to be 2

Don't underestimate the Jags! This defense looks just as dominant as Denver's 2015 defense and Bortles is definitely better than that Manning corpse out there. We are in a similar situation as that year as well, several key players out for the season despite a strong start. The only difference is that hopefully this time around we won't have a center tipping the snap count.

Jags are dangerous and I strongly believe that they are a much bigger threat than Pittsburgh is.

Would you rather have a bye and home playoffs games in the later rounds than not, OF COURSE..................but of all the years to potentially be a three seed, this is the LEAST daunting......

This team, which until Sunday has been dominant on the road, might have to travel to the almighty Jacksonville with MVP/seasoned playoff vet Blake Bortles?!!?! Are you serious?

Then, if they somehow get by that game, they'll have to find a way to conquer a Steelers team that has been squeaking by mediocre competition in four of their last five games? The same team and location that we've historically had success against?

Let's be real, if there was EVER a time in which you'd be ok being the three seed, THIS IS IT!!!!!

Jags will most likely lose one more, of course you dont want to have to depend on it but imo they are not a 12-4 team. Already lost to some bad teams

Last time they played in WC weekend was 09 playoffs. What chances did y'all give them before that game to get to SB?
You are comparing that team which lost welker the week before to this team ? Which BB even said that he cant get them to play ? What has that got to do anything with this year? Why are you always fearful of what might happen? This is like pre 2004 red sox mentality. Appreciate that every year the pats are in the mix. Rest is all a crapshoot. They were amazing in 2010 reeling of bunch of wins beating the jets 45-3 with HFA and #1 seed. What happened ?

With this mindset, we lose Sunday mine as well pack it in and not watch because we’re doomed.
If you were as big a loser as him you would feel defeat in everything also. *

* not to imply you are even slightly a loser

I’m a winner. I’m good enough, I’m smart enough and Doggone it people like me.

I mean, let's look at it another way...........

If the Pats were to play the Jaguars don't you think they should be more worried about playing us than we would about playing them?

Ya and no team had ever come back from being down more than 10 points in the SB until the Pats did it....
ok. Not relevant to this discussion, but yes, they did that.

the threat is the bad math of seed 3.. verse seed 2 or 1.

I honestly think they might be better than Denver in 2015. They have more pass rushers on the DL alone than Denver did and a LB in Telvin Smith that cover and run with RBs. They CAN be run on, though.

I totally disagree with this premise. Football outsiders does as well.

FOOTBALL OUTSIDERS: Innovative Statistics, Intelligent Analysis | DVOA PLAYOFF ODDS REPORT

#1 seed 30.7%
#2 seed 33.7%
#3 seed 34.3%

They could easily win this game, get complacent and lose another while Pitt wins out and Jax drops a game. They could lose this game, win out and the Jags lose. Things change too much in the NFL week to week.
Football outsiders does NOT disagree with this post. I clearly stated IF the Jags win out. Their seed 2 scenario HAS to include the Jags losing a game. We CAN'T get seed 2 (only 1 or 3) IF they Jags win out. (WHich is the condition I stated.)

I don't think that Jacksonville wins out its next few games so it isn't that big of a deal. Anyways, I'm not really concerned about missing out on a bye since we have a good chance to beat the Steelers today (I don't think they lose this one) and do enough to keep the bye.

I'd be absolutely shocked if the Jags dropped any of the next three games. They should smoke all three of their remaining opponents. So the Pats need to win out regardless.

if we go 12-4 and don't get a bye those are the breaks it just happens.. usually doesn't but it happend to us in 2006, it used to happen to the Peyton Colts a lot. In fact Dungy used to whine about that alot. The only real discussion here is being honest about how much it lowers our chances.

Seed 3.. 33% tougher to win the SUper Bowl, 50% tougher to get there

Jags D is scary good this year. I read somewhere that statistically it is in 85 Bears, 2000 Ravens territory. (though it is possible I read that on here )

They could easily lose on the road to the Titans or find themselves in a trap game either this week or next week. I feel that the Jaguars, not the Steelers, are the Patriots worst matchup, but I don't think their offense is at a good enough level to win the next 3 games.
