Boy new Brown's GM Dorsey couldn't get rid of Britt fast enough.

Let's see how he does playing for BB.

"I have no problem making that decision,'' Dorsey said today on "The Really Big Show'' with Aaron Goldhammer on WKNR, a radio partner of the Browns. "From a cultural standpoint, I don't think he fits in the prototypical character point of what I'm looking for in terms of a leader. He did not live up to his expectations as a player.''

Dorsey went on to add that Britt "may have a higher opinion of himself than I have of him as a player, so I thought that was easy.''

Browns' GM calls dumping Kenny Britt 'an easy decision'

Dorsey said in the same radio appearance that Brown and the rest of the group making personnel decisions didn’t bring in “real players” over the last couple of years.

Alienating a good chunk of the roster is always a good way to start getting things turned around.

Sashi Brown's handling of free agency was fairly questionable the past couple years, but I don't know that his drafts were that awful (and it's a bit early to tell for certain yet). In any case, in the 2017 draft, he seemed to get good value with a few prospects who had earned some respect from regular members of our own draft forum.

I love it. Come offseason BB & Caserio might be able to delve into the buffet that is the Browns roster to grab some players they dont want to have anymore.

Tough to argue with Howe here:

history suggests it’ll be virtually impossible for Britt to acclimate himself quickly enough to draw Tom Brady’s trust in the most important stretch of the season.

Tough to argue with Howe here:

True enough, but pretty obvious.

It seems to me that the Pats are highly unlikely to immediately ask Britt to run the type of option routes that require Brady's trust. It seems more likely that he's practicing dedicated routes this week for 3-4 plays that are designed for him to be an early read in Brady's progression. If 2-3 of those are successful, maybe they put a bit more into Britt's practice task list next week.

But, no, Britt's chance of becoming a "trusted" and integral part of the Pats passing attack by the Superbowl are significantly less the Browns' chances of not getting the #1 overall pick in the 2018 draft.

Moreover, if Britt does succeed beyond anyone's wildest imagination between now and the SB, I'm sure that the competition committee will implement a new rule banning the Pats from signing any new WRs after Thanksgiving in the future.

Tough to argue with Howe here:

The thing is that he wont be a player this year that you rely on in no huddle situations or for the majority of a game but I dont see how in 1-2 weeks he wouldnt be able to at least run a limited route tree and be efficient in very specific situations.

Now whether he uses the opportunity and catches balls thrown to him is a completely separate story. That INT Floyd produced against the Texans on the inside slant was the end for him. If he instead caught that ball and was able to built on that he might have still been here this year.

That's probably the most intelligent thing that's ever come out'f your mouth!!

Hard to know whether it was the icing on the cake or just so bad of a play that he simply couldn’t be trusted anymore. I’m going with the former, considering that he had some moments where he didn’t line up properly as well as a costly penalty or two, and he only played in three games.

There was definitely more going wrong than just this catch. But if he hangs on to the ball maybe it gets him going a bit and he can built on that. Confidence is a fickle thing..

I am very hard on all of my sports teams ( Bruins, Pats, UCLA Bruins football, and Sox). Then again, I am also hard on my employees and expect greatness.

What a pathetic joke this guy is ~ he actually believes that he's bragging!!

There're basically only 2 kinds of fans:

1 ~ Fans with enough confidence and self esteem that they don't desperately need their teams to compensate for their lack of confidence and self esteem. And because their self esteem isn't all wrapped up in how their teams do, they get to enjoy the entire process, every year, savoring the wins and the Championships, but also enjoying the pursuit of greatness, the connection with their teams, and the camaraderie with their fellow fans, every step of the way, win or lose.

2 ~ And then there are those sad, wretched souls utterly bereft of confidence or self esteem, who desperately seek to vicariously compensate for their emptiness and loneliness through the teams that they "root" for. But these are not fans. These are parasites. They feed off of every success but squeal bitterly at every failure. They persuade themselves that they've got high standards, when the truth is that they're never happy because only self respect can make you happy...and they have none.

I was a Weakling, once, as well, and I remember the self indulgence and the unhappy misery that was entirely my own fault: When the Red Sox, Patriots, or whoever fell short, I felt betrayed, but it was I who was betraying them, by failing to stand entirely with them, Win or Lose...Once I realized that and became a real Fan ~ Love, it turns out, is its own best reward ~ I've never suffered a loss with anything put Pride, ever since.

* Having thus become truly "free" as a Fan ~ free to love my Teams without presumption of anything more than the shared journey ~ I am far, far happier...But that in no way curtails me from the pleasure of being a Judgmental, Opinionated Prick!!

Did we ever get the contract details yet? Money? Can’t seem to find it.

Hate this move. I know I am in the minority, but I would rather lose with decent human beings than win with thugs like him. Also, word is, he has hands of stone. So Brady will likely be ignoring him within 2 weeks anyway.

Maybe you can invest your billions in Kale futures instead of sports.

Low risk, high upside signing. Britt is only a year removed from a 1,000 yard receiving season with a much better organization, the LA Rams. Sorry to say this but anybody would look bad playing for the Browns.

Whatever Britt did in the past it is over 3 years since it happened, so there's a chance that he has changed for the better. If Britt does well in a short 4 game cameo with the Pats, we have his rights for next year as well. Considering our WR corps is the walking wounded, I like this move. If he does well, we have a tall 6-3 target to help in the red zone and move the chains.

To summarize Britt's lengthy rap sheet as a bad-ass criminal type:

Jan 2010: Arrested for outstanding traffic tickets in Bayonne. Paid $865 fine.
Aug 2010: Cited for driving on a revoked license in Nashville (misdemeanor).

Feb 2011: Two bail bondsmen accused Britt of not paying up for a friend of his who'd skipped. Britt paid up.

Apr 2011: Charged with eluding apprehension when a NJ cop tried to stop him for speeding (71 mph in a 50 mph zone). Pled guilty to careless driving and paid a $478 fine.

June 2011: Hoboken Police arrested him for smoking a blunt in his car while going through the car wash. Charged with resisting arrest for what amounted to OPI. Pled guilty to disturbing the peace and paid a $1500 fine.

July 2012: Arrested for DUI in Kentucky. Found not guilty at trial. Goodell suspended him for one game anyway.

Jan 2013: Transported a friend who'd been stabbed to the hospital. Initially refused to make an official statement to police officers on the scene.

I'm not trying to say that Britt is an innocent babe in the woods (although, by Bayonne standards he probably is). It's just that Britt has a media-driven "reputation" for his "criminal record", but there's more than one way to look at that record.

Seriously, I've personally done worse and paid less in fines.

Britt's most recent infraction was for missing team curfew (along with Corey Coleman).

I know you can drive 50 mph more than that and you get to be a judge with your own TV show.

I posted it into one of the Britt threads yesterday but who can keep track of all of them. As Schefter says we will pay the pro-rated minimum which adds up to around 170k I think for this year. Since the second year is a team option he has no effect on comp picks and if goes on to sign somewhere else for a big contract he would count for our comp picks next year.
