Patriots Rumor Tracker / FA Signings (Updated: Signings in OP - 4/7)

Why would you want Clowney when the Pats chose not to bring hum in last year when he was available??
I think he'd be a great fit. He was with Vrabel in Houston and Tennessee. He was really good last year in limited snaps, great against the run and pass and his athleticism still popped. He was 94th in snaps (372) but 21st in sacks (8.5), 25th in stops (27), 48th in pressures (40), and 4th in batted passes (4)

Seahawks signing CB Riq Woolen to a 1 year/$15M deal:

I had suggested going after Woolen or Nahshon Wright. Wright isc6'4" 200#, 27 years old, would give the Pats great outsideCB depth along with Gonzalez and Davis. 3 years/$42M was my estimate.

Again, you're ignoring that Vrabel could have added Clowney at any point prior to Clowney signing with Dallas last year and Vrabel chose not to. That is more telling to me than any stats you put up.

I think that teams and agents are resetting the markets because of what happened Monday.. So, there is a lot more going negotiating going on. Especially with how the Raiders threw around money and over-paid for Linderbaum..
I think that the Raiders may panic trade Crosby now because they verbally agreed to terms with a lot of FAs. Now teams are not going to give them 2 1st rounders. Baltimore got cold feet and ****ed the Raiders imo

There are only maybe 8 to 10 teams that can even afford Crosby, and not all of them have a big need at edge where they’d be highly motivated to acquire him. Plus, this situation has put a bit of a damper on it all so the market will be even less active. I bet mainly only a couple teams will still be interested in a trade and it won’t be for two 1sts. I bet if they get offered just one 1st they’ll take it. Maybe they will throw in a player or a middle round pick to make it “look better”.

If I was NE I would trade pick 31 for him because I would likely be drafting EDGE at that pick anyway and he’s as good as they get at that position. And then I don’t need to bring Chaisson back so that’s some money saved towards the salary.

Deals aren’t official yet. I get lots more teams could fit in his salary and then immediately restructure it to complete their other announced moves.

Technically yes they could restructure his salary into a signing bonus and drop his cap hit by a lot but that also brings it’s own complications.

I think Dallas offers a 1st and Osa and gets Crosby.

I’d give them 31 for him.
And Boutte and a third for AJ Brown.

Problem for the Pats is they no longer have enough cap space to absorb his deal.

What are we doing? So bored we’re posting “news” from rando twitter profiles?
Yup. You are right. Let is what we are doing. Bored stiff, although being stiff can be a positive.

this

I would have our doctors on a plane.

I suspect that Raiders can restructure a couple of contracts and get bye tomorrow's deadline and then get what they can.

If not, DAL, NE and a couple of others have the Raiders over a barrel and will make a trade by 4 PM.

Yes they do. No signings are official yet. They could trade for him, restructure and then sign the other guys they’ve agreed with. There’s no way they were ever going to acquire him and he has a $30M cap number anyway. A restructure of some kind was always certain if they ever did get him.

in a heartbeat

We would simply restructure Williams.

If that isn't enough, we could also restructure Barmore.

Finally, we could/should extend Onwenu.
