Patriots Coaching Staff (Not OC/DC)- Upgrades?

McCourty is coming back...probably at a reduced price, but expect him to be back with us next year.

High I believe is gone and probably should retire...he had a great career.

Van Noy I am leaning toward he will be back.

Agholor I am not sure about but believe he will be back as well.
We're talking about 2 years from now, not this coming season.

This is why I said Agholor's 2 year contract will be finished

Some of us aren't the only ones concerned with coaching staff upgrade decisions.

BB and McDaniels seem to have a ton of mutual respect, so it seems likely that they would have had a discussion about coaches in whom Josh was interested, at least as a courtesy to Belichick.

Everyone is in such a rush to fabricate tension/controversy, often without any true supporting facts or inside information. This seems like another case of that phenomen.

By all accounts coaching seemed to be an issue last season. It is possible that some of the coaches that were allowed to leave were let go because they did not measure up to expectations. For example dumb penalties and spotty protection for the QB dogged the OL much of the season. Letting the coach for that position leave at the end of the contract was likely to happen even if MCD was still here. We can't simultaneously bash the coaching last year and be upset that some of those coaches are no longer with the team. This is a good story line, the media would not be in business if they did not create controversy. Here's hoping that the culture of self awareness and course correction will help the team weather another round of brain drain.

From what local guys like Phil Perry and Tom Curran say the atmosphere at the combine is the league is in collective disbelief at what appears to be the Pats coaching situation. And not in a good way.

I was encouraged to hear about the league wide respect for Caley. If he indeed becomes the playcaller, I'm sure he won't be named OC for at least a year - that's how BB does business. But, as long as Judge doesn't get close to offensive game planning. I do trust Patricia as a "football mind", so if he plays a big role in the offensive schemes it's okay. He worked with JMD and against Brady for years, and we know how BB likes to have guys from the other side of the field bring new perspective and reverse engineer that unit. We now have a very young coaching staff though, I'd like to see another trusted mind come in.

The true rebuild is happening now ...

I have a hard time believing that the concerns "offered" are anything but sincere hopes that BB is out of his mind. Whatever respect the league has for BB and the Patriots is dwarfed by their dislike of the same.

But why did McD want them if they were bad?

But why did McD want them if they were bad?

McD had to hire a staff. When McD walked out on Indy, he had already hired some staff who he left hanging. Hard to find people that are going to quit their present position to join McD in the situation. Guys who McD knows and is promoting will take the positions. Does not mean they are great coaches.

That means the Pats will win the AFC East. Glad to hear it.

DeGuglielmo was going to be on McDaniels' Colts staff in 2018, and then did work for Flores/O'Shea in 2019 and Judge in 2020. My guess is that DeGuglielmo and Bricillo weren't bad with the Patriots, but that they knew they could upgrade by going back to Scarnecchia and think they can upgrade by going to Patricia.

Still think they could upgrade by enticing Patsfan Ken out of retirement, the old coot.

Much rather PFK than Patricia, all things considered.

I'm still holding out hope that BB brings in some new blood from the College ranks for the O-line coaching position. We need it.

This is still a huge concern for me is our coaching staff in general. It just doesn’t seem as talented as it use to be or have as many people coaching in general. This is one of my biggest worries along with other things going into this season.

Are there any guys available that we could look into adding?

I mentioned Matt Luke who was the O-Line Coach for UGA. He was the HC for Ole Miss at one point as well. He's highly regarded. However, he did the old "I'm resigning to spend time with my family" spiel in February. Who know if he would consider it. There are two others I mentioned. Alex Atkins of FSU or Sam Gregg of Liberty. Both are highly regarded.

Also, there is the off chance that they could persuade Popovich to come back.. Or possibly Dante again..

Some new coaches would not go amiss.
I think I heard one of the beat reporters say that Scar is still working for the Pats but only in a consulting role ?

It is kind of weird that you all think Judge is so incapable. Before he became a HC, he was held in high esteem by Belichick. Now all of a sudden his failure as a HC means he knows nothing.
