Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin traded to Buffalo for 3rd & 7th

What doesn't help Benjamin is that he was a first round pick in the same round that included players like Odell Beckham and Mike Evans. He may be held to an unfair standard set by those guys. With his physical attributes he should be dominating like those guys but he doesn't seem to bring it together.

True, he’s not on the same level as two of the top 5 receivers in the entire league, but it looks like he’s on track for basically his 3rd 1,000 yard season in three years of playing time.

He had 941 yards and 7 TDs in a “down year” last season, but it looks like he’s on pace to knock on the door for another 1,000 yard season in ‘17.

This is a no brainer for trading away a mid round pick + a throwaway 7th rounder, especially with the 5th year option. That’s at least 1.5 years of decent value.

I actually would have been interested in seeing if the Patriots could have used him as more of a receiving TE, and just given him occasional WR snaps. I think he's balked at that in the past, but Brady/Belichick.

I'm sad that the pats couldnt trade for a te. Bennett should have been available given that green bay is finished.

Do you have inside information saying that Green Bay was looking to move Bennett?

No, hence the word "should" which implies a logical deduction on my part.

Right, definitely worth a mid round pick.

I think the other red flag that might have people concerned is that he's struggled with weight issues. Maybe it's a genetic thing but when a professional athlete struggles with weight issues it's somewhat natural to question their commitment or drive to a degree (fair or not).
