Really a shame from a supply standpoint what has taken place. People hoarding toilet paper, sanitizer, gloves, etc. Will never doubt the selfishness of the average American. That’s something that was learned many years before this whole ordeal though.

I live in a small town in uk , not a lot of people wearing masks unless you are elderly or at risk. In all this troubles a funny thing is when we are out for a walk (allowed once a day) you are supposed to keep a gap of 7 feet between people so you tend to zig zag across the roads and sidewalks to avoid getting too close.....and at least people smile and laugh !

Common sense alone should tell you that wearing masks would help. First off, if everyone wore masks the spread wouldn't be happening near the rate it is now. People saying it doesn't help if you're healthy.......HOW DO YOU KNOW YOU'RE HEALTHY UNLESS YOU GOT TESTED? You don't. That statement is beyond idiotic. You can have it and not have symptoms. You should always assume you have it and act accordingly. The problem is most people assume they DON'T have it when they do and spread it to others!!

Not to mention, wearing a mask could aid in helping remind you not to mistakenly touch your face before washing your hands. It's like an extra reminder. I know most people touch their face sometimes without even really thinking. Wearing a mask and maybe gloves can help serve as a reminder to not do that. Also, it reminds other people that see you to keep their distance!! Another added bonus.

My wife has to go to the grocery store tomorrow and I’m pushing for the mask but she’s not listening. Granted, it’s just the cheap, paper mask that may not even help that much, but in my opinion, it’s surely better than nothing.

    My situation is:
    • My wife and I are both in risk groups.
    • Due to her alertness, I laid in some supplies in February.
    • She almost never leaves the home except to go to the doctor/dentist/whatever anyway.
    • I almost never leave the home except for errands or medical appointment.
    • For the past few weeks, I've worn gloves when out.
    • Absent a medical emergency, I've now finished ALL trips outside the home for a long time except to one supermarket, and there only during senior hour.
    • The only really unsafe thing about that is the proximity to store employees in the checkout line. (I too hold my breath when passing somebody in the aisles.) I might put on a mask for that in the future.

If the store limits the number of people in at any one time she should be able to keep her distance. I would definitely wear gloves re the trolleys etc. In most articles I seem to think the majority of masks most of us would have/buy do not really help but as you say.....could be better than nothing

People need to respect personal space not only out of kindness but potentially self-preservation. With our gun culture in the US, I have a feeling that at some point we'll hear about someone coming too close to someone just to talk and someone opening fire as "self-defense" against the coronavirus.

No. I’m a fit and healthy 30 y/o who has left the house once in the last 9 days if I pulled a scarf around my face and put on safety glasses. I am worried.

I have a mask but only 3 filters for it. Things will go south and I will need the mask for then. I know an N95 won’t stop me from getting it but it’s better than nothing.

I feel the lockdown we have in the U.K. won’t do enough it needs to be tougher so I have taken my own steps to look after myself and other around me.

    No mask.

But I bring a tape measure. I like all the high brow terms that they dream up like "social distancing."
