    Everyone who is wiping down each item with a Clorox wipe, how are you not running out? If we did that we’d be out of wipes pretty soon and have you seen the prices for this stuff on eBay?

    we are leaving our delivery boxes on the porch for at least 24 hours. Anything inside has been in there even longer than that. We unpack on the porch, bring the items in and wash our hands thoroughly. The boxes we will break down eventually but there’s no rush so we just leave them outside.

    I used some 8 month old chicken thighs last week - no smell, no freezer burn - made a good stir fry. As long as you use the sealer correctly it is amazing.

    Mine is automatic, it sucks out the air and then automatically heats and seals. I had been using ziploc bags prior to buying it but stuff still kept spoiling, so I had wanted one for a while. This thing has been unbelievable and I think may have even already paid for itself with the amount of food that we haven't thrown away.

    Does everyone here know that soap actually disables the virus better than alcohol, or anything else in the wipes and sanitizers? Washing your hands isn't just about washing the virus off; it is about disabling it where it stands. (I use "disable" because you can't "kill" something that's not a living organism in the first place.)

    There's no need to have wipes or sanitizers around for your hands and most objects. For example, when we bring plastic covered anything, we just wash it with liquid soap and rinse it with water. You can also just keep a thin film of liquid soap refreshed on the primary door handle you are using. Easy and cheap.

    And when washing your hands, don't wet your hands first. Put liquid soap on as a first step, and do the 60 second rubbing, then wash the soap off, and repeat.

    If you haven't watched one of the many videos on how to wash your hands, please do. Almost all Americans are doing it wrong.

    Definitely, and I always wash my hands at home, I just wish I had a stash of sanitizer to fill the bottles in mine/my wife/my son's cars for when we are forced to have to go out. That's really all I normally use it for - when I'm not near a sink to wash my hands.

    Yikes, fixed it. Thanks. Yeah, we'd all be pretty raw.
    Glad you read it that closely.
    Hope it didn't trigger anybody's OCD (which has become another health problem with this thing).

    Anyone have info on what the various delivery systems are doing to protect packages, and personnel?

    I don't understand senior hour. Public has it on TUE an WED. They then restrict households severely (e.g. 2 cans of soup). I'll try Kroger this week.
    ======
    We are seniors. It seems that shopping at senior hour exposes us to those most likely to be carrying the disease. Also, the store is more crowded at that time. What have I missed?
    ========
    I suppose that non-seniors would more safe if all the seniors shopped during senior hours.

    I have a P100 half mask respirator that I use for airbrushing that I've worn in enclosed spaces like Walmart or the grocery store along with gloves. I haven't used it when getting carryout. Like others, my thought was more a concern about asymptomatic (or subclinical, I had some odd chest pains and coughs that could be allergies, but who knows) spread than preventing myself from getting it, but better safe than sorry. (I've covered the exhalation valve since that air's unfiltered.)

    Spread doesn't discriminate by age, symptoms do. I suspect it's more to make sure seniors have the ability to get necessities than as a prevention mechanism. (The Whole Foods here doing a senior hour do it the first hour the store opens.)

    No, I haven’t. I’ve only driven within like one square mile of my house aside from going to work during the week.

    Tip: if you do not find any hand soap at the store, get dish soap. It serves the same purpose. Sanitizer is overrated. It’s only good if you’re out and in a pinch. Washing your hands thoroughly is better than lathering up with sanitizer.

    This was just posted in the other thread:

    Still doesn't solve the issue of how scarce they are. We have a few filters, but those won't last long.

    Not sure that is even true as the CDC is denying this. Also, people should not be rushing out to buy masks. The hospitals need it before the general public.

    We have 1 wipe bottle left...these people must have 20. I can't use them all when I go to the store..otherwise we would be out soon. Saving them for if/when one of us gets sick

    You can't even rush out and get masks...there haven't been any in weeks in stores. Unless you had them before this hit or acted in Jan...the public will have to make their own

    Well USPS currently has 2k in quarantine from an article the other day for symptoms..god knows how many have it...otherwise they are told to keep working and some offices have even threatened to fire those that don't show.

    Just go look at /usps on reddit. It's unreal. This is a huge carrier of the virus IMO

    I have soapstone countertops and I’ve always cleaned them with liquid dish soap because ANY greasy stain on them will never come out otherwise. So that’s what I do now. It saves on using up Clorox wipes. Those things are like the holy grail. But the directions even say to disinfect the item you have to make sure it’s wet for four minutes or so. That’s a lot of wiping.
