Bullcrap. I'm sick of this attitude that we have to accept every single perversion and deviance people can come up with. I'm not saying it should be illegal, but any guy openly solicitating for other men to participate in the gang-banging of his own wife is worthy of the scorn and derision he receives.

I absolutely believe that Ryan is going to be scorned by the general public because of this but in the end, it's not behavior that needs to be accepted at all. It's either legal or illegal.

Adultery, for instance, is illegal. This doesn't rise to the level of adultery as far as public acceptance goes. When it comes to the law, adultery is illegal. This, I don't think so.

It should not be lost on anyone that this was all probably kicked off when Rex's jealousy of Belichick and Brady, combined with his exhibitionist tendencies, made him hold up a picture of his wife so that fetishists could instantly recognize her and trigger this mini-scandal.

It's a stupid double-standard, but it's akin to the arguments about being a manager in any other company. The NFL, players and coaches, are not even remotely similar to the company any of us work for, so it's not worth it to make the comparison. A cheerleader shouldn't be thrown off a squad for doing something she consents to with her own body.

But yeah, the nude crotch shots are pornographic but I also have not seen that. Other than that, the stuff is not pornographic. What Rex Ryan and his wife choose to do on their own time is no business of mine, whether that involves one **** or twenty, feet or no feet.

The only questionable thing here is the judgment to put it up on Youtube, which I'll agree was pretty dumb. Even with that, though, it really shouldn't matter to the common fan at all. Everybody has their own weird things that should really just stay in the bedroom; I feel horrible for Rex that it's come out into the public eye.

Basically, as much as I dislike the Jets, I feel bad for Rex Ryan as a person right now.

I don't want to open up a can of worms, but I don't see why sexuality should be kept sacrosanct when so many other behaviors based in desire are openly discussed. This type of attitude just preserves the idea that sex is somehow a secret. It allows for all sorts of prohibitions, inhibitions and repression. Put it this way: one of the things that's saving Rex right now is that very few people want to EVEN think about the things he's into. That's because we're so repressed as a society we can't even talk about these things. But we're very capable of, say, firing professors for making political speech, or firing people for wearing earrings in their noses or tattoos. Fine, you say, one is private behavior, and the other is public. I don't make those distinctions because I've been through them and find the arguments contradictory, especially in Ryan's case. People are judged, scorned, ridiculed all the time. Put it out there, I say.

The bottom line is, I really don't want to know what Rex Ryan does behind closed doors but he and his wife put it out there for the world to see. If there was nothing to be embarrassed about well, he shouldn't have said he was. And he should stop referring to it as a private matter.

I don't think someone's insecurities might drive them to multiple partners. That's a hugely broad statement to make. Some people just don't believe in/can't do monogamy. But I do believe insecurities and a troubled background can lead one to a life in porn. That's why most porn stars are troubled people from troubled backgrounds. They are not what I would describe as "secure".

I guess it really depends what your definition of porn is.

But we shouldn't really assume it's automatic. One of the biggest porn stars comes from a happy, intact, apple-pie, very religious All-American family. So, I know you couched your statement about insecurities as "most porn stars," and I think you're right about that, but it doesn't necessarily tell us anything about Rex.

Instead, I'd say that Rex's behavior as a football coach tells us more about his character than this incident does. At least for me. Personally having Buddy Ryan as a Dad, well, that maybe would screw anyone up, and then your insecurities statement has some real oomph behind it.

I consider this bull. Come on, you're going to tell me over all the discussion of Rex on this board over the year, over his bragging, hell over showing his wife's ad at the press conference before the Patriot game, all the stuff about his Dad, well now suddenly when sex come up we're supposed to skip looking into his behavior? One, I didn't say anything about private matter.
Two, I wasn't talking about how this goes over with the general public.
Three, I was talking about one person determining whether this behavior was acceptable.

That made no sense to me. It's irrelevant over whether it's acceptable. The main question is, is it legal? Only his employer cares whether it's acceptable. As for the question about swinging = adultery, I can make a case that it doesn't. A woman was arrested in a town near me last summer when the arresting officer ascertained that she was unfaithful to her husband. He made the arrest. There was a betrayal involved that clearly figured into the policeman's thinking. so, I'm not an expert on this. Going off that one case, the betrayal was key to the arrest.
