OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

The divisional round is easily my favorite weekend of sports of the entire year. Next weekend is going to be absolutely awesome. These games are shaping up to be almost perfect in terms of matchup anticipation, competitive balance, and interest level. They may not play out that way, but at least they’re intriguing.

JJ Watt's been activated for tonight's game.

Bruce Arians on his interaction with Andrew Adams. "He's trying to pull a guy out of a pile and i was trying to knock him off that guy so he didn't get a penalty.''

To actually root for Brady in some people's minds would mean that Bill was wrong. And they just can't do that because they truly believe Brady's success is a slight against Bill.

Anyone who believes such things is stupid. It's as stupid as believing BB losing in the playoffs represents vindication for Brady.

It would be cool if you could do a poll within a thread (not just in the OP)…

Who are we rooting for tonight? I think it has to be the Cardinals because of the success the Rams have had against the Bucs. It seems the Rams star players Donald, Ramsey, and Kupp pose bigger problems than the Cardinals star players. Stafford is absolutely a choker, and I’d never bet on him winning a road playoff game, but he is more of a classic big-armed pocket passer the Bucs struggle with, while Murray isn’t a major scrambler like Hurts but isn’t a quick release guy either...he’s so small he needs to move around to find throwing lanes, and the Bucs defense thrives on that stuff.

Anyone have a good argument to root for the Rams? It is tempting to simply easily want the worst big game performer of his generation, but I still can’t get there.

Arizona all the way unless I’m missing something but they don’t have a shut down corner. If Ramsey erases Evans who does Brady go to McVay surely doubles Gronk and leaves Evans on an island that a lot of work for the other players to make up for than add in an explosive offense.

I was reading '3 Bold Predictions: Arizona Cardinals vs. Los Angeles Rams - Wild Card' on FanSided for iOS and I thought you might be interested in reading it too.
3 Bold Predictions: Arizona Cardinals vs. Los Angeles Rams – Wild Card

If they do play LA I bet them to double Kupp take him away and Stafford won’t know what to do OBJ/Jefferson have been struggling. Put Davis/Winfield on him ever play

I think either team will be a tough matchup for Tampa. I suppose I want Arizona more just because I think the Tampa defense can slow murray down from running given how well the front seven is playing. But Arizona has a ton of speed too on both sides of the ball. So I'm kind of torn because I do think stafford has come down a bit since Tampa played him in week three and I think in a big spot especially on the road he is likely to turn the ball over in the face of the Tampa pressure.

I want to see a Rams meltdown tonight. Pressure is on Stafford and it will be a terrible look if he loses.

I can easily see an upset. Arizona was their worst possible matchup. The only playoff game on tonight with all eyes on Stafford. He’s a choke artist.

The more I think about the more I don't know who I prefer. If Watt actually makes a difference and Hopkins is back next week it could be trouble. I would love to play Stafford because of who he is but the defense does better against guys like Murray. I trust LA's coach a bit more in big moments simply because he's been there before but he's showed to also be stubborn with game plans and not adapt quickly. No Hopkins and not having to deal with 3 pass rushers if Watt isn't really 'back' and I think you want Arizona. If Watt looks good then that might be the scarier Dline. Either way though the team will have a short weak and have to travel across the country which should help. Anyone have the numbers on the Dline this weekend for Tampa? How did they do with just 4 and how often did they send 5 or more?

You have the GOAT big game loser going against an up and coming big game loser, who appears poised to succeed Stafford as the league’s premier choker. Something has to give.

I think Arizona at Tampa is a good matchup for the Bucs D. Murray will panic a ton and run right into the Bucs fast front 7.

Murray? What did he do to be labeled a choker? Was it last year's finale?

I saw at least 4 drops in the first couple of drives. One of them was close to being picked.
I hear you. Evans dropped a TD. Johnson quit/slowed down on 2 routes and missed those passes as a result.

If the receivers had been on point, Brady's numbers would have been even more ridiculously good.

This is my toughest pick. I already changed to the Lambs but Stifford worries me. Maybe I should change it back.

Last year they were 8-6 and needed one more win to make the playoffs. First gsme, they lost to the 49ers, who were out of contention and playing with CJ Beathard, 20-12. Then against the Rams, who were playing with John Wolford, I guess you can’t blame him for an ankle injury on the first series, but he was able to come back in when the gsme was out of reach.

This year, the Cardinals were finally getting national recognition after a 7-0 start and he choked like a dog at Lambeau. Game losing INT. They’ve lost 4 of 5 to end the season, including to Detroit, and they would have won their division had they just beat Seattle, who was playing for nothing.
