OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

These are the same people who I am sure actually believed there was a "patriot way." That somehow the Patriots system and culture was why we were winning for 20 years and not because we had the greatest player of all time playing the most important position. That's a hard reality to accept for people that are organizational shills.

That being said, the vast majority of New England is voting for Tom Brady/Bucs. This board is not representative of the region by any stretch.
I'm wondering if the reload isn't over yet. Key Patriots are done or close to it, Slater, Hightower, McCourty etc. And BB is 70. It's hard being a leader of men when you get too old. They start getting tuned out.

I agree that most root for Brady but not enough for a combined big market area with Tampa(that NY and LA has) that he doesn't get snubbed for awards.

However, it is disappointing that top media guys such as Bernd Buchmasser over at Patspulpit was rooting for the Eagles. Especially since Brady did everything he could to almost win that SB game, but the defensive coaches and BB gave it them.

Honestly I came from a board that absolutely hates Brady. Its not a very populated board, but they loathe him. I have read twitter posts from people who want Brady to die in a fire that are not as bad as something things I read from there, so in that I thought pats fans just hated Brady until I came here and saw that is not really that way save Mac 10 who I believe was a fan of a different team until Brady left. Twitter pats fans which is a ton, I very seldom see anti brady posts from them.

It would be cool if you could do a poll within a thread (not just in the OP)…

Who are we rooting for tonight? I think it has to be the Cardinals because of the success the Rams have had against the Bucs. It seems the Rams star players Donald, Ramsey, and Kupp pose bigger problems than the Cardinals star players. Stafford is absolutely a choker, and I’d never bet on him winning a road playoff game, but he is more of a classic big-armed pocket passer the Bucs struggle with, while Murray isn’t a major scrambler like Hurts but isn’t a quick release guy either...he’s so small he needs to move around to find throwing lanes, and the Bucs defense thrives on that stuff.

Anyone have a good argument to root for the Rams? It is tempting to simply easily want the worst big game performer of his generation, but I still can’t get there.

Me and My oldest son is watching the game, and at the half, he was saying Man. Wirfs going down might hurt them, Brady is getting sacked from that side and It didnt even phase me, I was just like. Nah they will change it up Brady will throw quicker and Brady will move a chipper over to that spot, or change the protection pre snap so they cant adjust. Its just how he thinks anymore. He literally sees all angles.

Can't think of a single one. Arizona can beat the Bucs but LA would be confident because they have the last 2 times and with the RT out, Brady will be under siege with no outlet except running backs.

Yeah I dont know. I think both teams pose a threat here and there. I always think that if you worry about who you play, then maybe its just not your year. They can beat both teams and they could lose to both teams. If they play at the top of their game they can win against either, if they dont, it doesnt matter.

Give me the Cardinals. Donald can wreck game anytime he sets on the field, Ramsey can eliminate Evans, McVay owns Bowels.

Yeah, you’re right about that. I’d prefer to see the Cardinals, but I remember last year rooting hard for the Saints to lose to the Bears, then for the Packers to lose to the Rams, then for the Chiefs to lose to the Bills. In the end, it’s quite possible they would have lost against other teams they just didn’t match up well against.

I do think rooting for the #1 team to lose to take HFA is almost always a good bet though.

Oh for sure, and I am not saying you are wrong in rooting for a team that offers the best matchup. I get to where I root for teams to lose just so in case they do lose they dont lose to them. lol Like Cowboys last night. You ever do that? Where you are like ok...;if we lose to the Cards, meh I can live with that, but losing to the cowboys? Nope, can deal with that one. I want the niners to beat the packers, not just because it would give them homefield and a lower opponent, but also because I would hate for Brady to lose to the packers if they lose.

How underrated is Vea though? He manhandled an All Pro C in Kelce

Sure, all the time, but the focus is more about who I can stomach winning the Super Bowl rather than who beats my team. Bragging rights for anything short of a championship are pretty lame.

I absolutely would rather lose to the 49ers than Packers if it came to it and it’s not close. Yeah Jimmy getting one over on Brady would be mildly annoying but whatever. But Rodgers being humiliated with a failure next week would be so so beautiful. And if in the AFC we can see Mahomes knocked out as well, oh god that’s awesome.

I agree. The 2 main things for me is that the Bucs don't get knocked out in the 1st round. It's a disaster when that happens to a contender. But in the next round, there is no shame in losing as all the teams left are contenders except for 1 pretender in the Cardinals. If Bucs play the Cardinals, they absolutely have to win.

The other main thing for is that Rodgers don't make it to the SB.

Even though i would prefer the Chiefs not to win it, the only team that would disgust me winning are the Packers.

Both Fraudgers and Mahomes are getting incredible amount of media adulation but unlike the stat padder, Mahomes is a fighter, he has never quit in a game no matter how much the Chiefs were losing and he has never protected his stats. If anything, he takes too many risks. He has never put himself above the team and i can’t be bothered if he wins a second ring.

Lol there's people rooting against the Bucs in the main forum. Unbelievable

I wish it was unbelievable, but it isn't.

That was true last year as well. I think you have to understand the psychological dichotomy. To actually root for Brady in some people's minds would mean that Bill was wrong. And they just can't do that because they truly believe Brady's success is a slight against Bill.

Put them on ignore until the playoffs are over. Don't let them ruin your enjoyment. If they are so pathetic that they can't enjoy Brady having success, they aren't going to be posting anything worth reading.

That SF Cowboys game was one of the oddest games. It was funny how they were trying to give back the game to the other team in the end.

I just saw that SF false start in 4th and inches near the end. Was it called false start because #71 was still getting in position when the ball was snapped? That was so dumb,..

Then Prescott's run at the end was the stupidest I ever seen. They were cutting it too close. 5 or more out of 10 times and you are going to run out of time. They were close enough to the end zone that it wouldn't have been a hail mary pass.
