OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Brady can win another 2 rings and a league MVP before he finally crumbles into dust and Chris Simms will be hesitant to put him in his top 5 all time.

A little over 30 minutes into practice and Mike Evans just leapt over a barricade into the stands after catching a pass along the right sideline. These players haven’t practiced in front of fans in over a year, so they’re just as excited as fans are to have an audience.

No Antonio Brown at the Bucs’ first camp practice. He’s coming off a knee injury that limited him in the postseason and forced him to undergo a surgical procedure this offseason. No OJ Howard either. He’s still recovering from a torn Achilles.

Antonio Brown did wind up taking the practice field, as did OJ Howard but neither actually practiced. Howard told me he couldn’t wait till he was fully healed so his infant daughter could come watch him.

From earlier today on
@SportsCenter
...my early observations from the Bucs’ first day of camp. Jaelon Darden would wind up dropping a few passes today, which coach Bruce Arians noted after practice, but I was still impressed with his speed.

Similar to the last one, but....

More on how Tom Brady looked in his first training camp practice today and some highlights from practice... I should also preface this last part by saying that I’ve seen some good Bucs football over the years too. I covered winning seasons in 2007, 2010 and 2016 before 2020

Thanks Deus for being our reporter. This is great stuff.

I hope AB gets back before Sept. I also wonder how effective Howard will be coming off the Achilles which is such a nasty injury.

You must grade on the eliptic curve. At least put an emoji so we dont all think you are weird.
I’m roasting another long-time poster here who kept saying that last season.

I am looking forward to seeing that offense. They basically have 3 wr1s in Evans, Brown, and Godwin. Gronk is also in the mix, WR1.5 ?

My guess is they’ll play AB sparingly. Knee problems aren’t good for a 33 year-old WR. I think this is probably his last season…I expect Gronk and AB will have some significant workload management during the regular season.

I would wager that Gronk is gonna primarily be used as a blocker and then in spots that Brady identifies he’ll take advantage of a mismatch and we’ll see a classic throw down the seam or plays like in the super bowl. OJ will likely be the primary pass catching TE.

Note first that I don't have any medical information on Howard. Having said that...

I'd have Howard starting the season as my lightly used TE3. And I'd monitor him for any signs of favoring his injury, which could easily lead to secondary injuries. And I'd do that because my primary goal would be to avoid him becoming another DeMarcus Cousins and, instead, to have him in good position by the time the playoffs roll around.

But that's just me.

I'm trying to remember when his injury happened. Not sure the time line on a blown heel

They have 4 pass catchers that have caught 1300+ yards in a season.

The only group that might be theoretically better is in 2019 when the Patriots, for a few days, had 3 1500+ receivers and the reigning Super Bowl MVP as pass catchers... that didn't exactly work out great

Yeah, it woudn't be wise to have OJ as the no1 pass catching TE due to injury history. You want him around in the final stretch.

Gronk should also not be overused. 500-750 yards is what I expect he'll get.
