I didn’t expect 10 empty PS spots today. Even if they’re saving 4 spots for today’s 4 cuts (hopefully), it seems that they have bigger plans for the other 6 spots than just bringing back 6 more of yesterday’s cuts.

I really hope they aced the draft. I can’t find anything they have done that I think is good
They had the most cap money and signed bargain basement guys on 1 year deals. They put together a roster so poor that they kicked off 4 players to take other teams cuts and still have half a dozen guys who probably don’t belong in the league. The communication has been awful, with Mayo saying the best guy plays, and Maye outplayed brissett but he’s the second best Qb. Mayo saying it’s his decision but AVP is the “head coach of offense” and AVP saying it’s too bad Nate didn’t get more reps. Wolf says we have all the pieces for a good OL then Mayo says the starters might be in another ready to be cut. Then they claim 2 OL off waivers. .
Now it’s looking like we have 10 open practice squad spots and we couldn’t figure out how to fill them today.
It’s as if we put people in charge who really have no clue what they are doing. If the draft picks weren’t good ones, we will have just skipped a year.

Honestly, Zappe behind very good offensive line with a lot of top weapons….. who knows he might win a few games in relief….. but they also have Wentz so I doubt he is anything except real emergency and may get cut again!

Of course, we waste some of our 16 Practice Squad spots on garbage. Teams just cut about 1000 players. A few were picked up on waivers, putting more players on the street looking for work.

Do you think that the 500 players on Practice Squads are somehow quality developmental players or someone who could step if needed?
The majority of players are on the Practice Squad because they are not qualified to be on a roster, not now and probably not ever. Sure, there are garbage players on practice squads.

They’ve only filled 1 (Mitchell Wilcox) the 6 “veteran” spots on the PS so far as well. They probably want Reagor and Jordan to fill 2 of those spots, but that leaves 3 more. I’m thinking they’re not done adding to the Oline and a veteran 4th QB will also be added soon.

KC wanted him. He has value to them. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure. The second man is usually a professional, and the first, not so much. That applies here.

The PS is for depth and development, not for piling garbage. I suspect you both believe that, but when it comes to Zappe, rationality flies out the window. “Garbage” is your way of saying how worthless you think he is. Great, but he’s still in the NFL.

The PS is for depth and development, not for piling garbage.

A PS quarterback is often there to run the scout team. Has some experience in different systems, decent IQ, maybe is more of a film guy than a raw talent guy, and maybe not there for either depth or development

Dude is a practice player in the NFL. Period. He's behind the best in the game today and a very competent back up.

Zappe is a solid backup and with above average offensive line and weapons on offense, like Kelce he should be able to do mop up duties commendably. Similar to what brissett and garopollo did during Brady's deflategate absence.

Zappe will have a long NFL career.

You do know that Zappe has reached the lofty status of Practice Squad player in his 3rd season? That's not great for a 4th round draft choice.
