They need to ditch Thursday night football. The games are worse than they would be if they got a couple more days of rest, treatment, and game prep.

They played a small unit on that drive. 335 the only time they did.
They came out in 434 then 425 and played the run fine.

It was scheme not play that caused it.

PS, if that's scheme not play, & those few runs is as bad as it gets, gonna be a great turnaround on short rest.

What did you expect on a short week after leaving Branch at home ? That suddenly out of nowhere they'd be strong against the run ?

They have been fine vs the run except the drive they went light.

No question. The sequence at the end of the half was a circus act. Even though the Wise flag seemed a bit soft.

The hand to the face was a legit call on Wise but he is a rookie and those things happen now and then.

Keeping Tampa to 7 and TOTALLY shutting down Mike Evans thus far have to be considered pretty substantial victories for the D.

As I said earlier, the only way that the Bucs have been strong against the run is that they've egregiously held Lawrence Guy who would have had Martin on 3 different occasions in the backfield. The Referee let it go despite how bad it was..

Yet, they call Solder for a "hold" because he fell and tripped a guy.. And for doing a cut block which is still legal..

Another positive is Winston has not had many good chances to run for yards. That is underated

Winston isn't really a runner. He's more like a Roethlisberger, who's mobile in the pocket and can get outside the tackles but isn't going to hurt you very often through scrambling or designed runs.

That's no "patch O-line". That's the OL they went in Pre-season and the regular season as the starting 5. There has been no replacement player playing tonight.

Pass defense looks better tonight, I think they've already began to shore some things up.

The run D was also looking good until the second quarter. But yeah, I've been impressed with the secondary mostly.

Jackson too, the safety help over the top has contained him very well. Our secondary matches up well against their receivers.

So the first 4 games weren't bad defense just good offense?

The defense looks quicker to the ball and more disciplined in their lanes tonite. The secondary is benefitting from Winston not seeing the coverage. The game plan seems better on the defensive side of the ball.

This is like watching the 2002 team.
