McCarron netted a 2nd + 3rd but Jimmy G a 2nd?

Ok, there's some problems here. The Browns picks are of equal value to the 49ers and including a 3rd rounder, or not including a 3rd rounder is a BIG deal. It seemed that Garoppolo would have been worth more than McCarron, so what's up?

The Browns have three #2s, probably wasn't the high one. And there's no certainty it's true, another report said two mid rounders.

Belichick wasn't going to deal Jimmy to the Browns (AFC, and IMHO he wanted to put Jimmy in a decent, but safe, spot). He only sought out the 49ers, and when there's only one buyer, the price goes down.

Also, we're talking about the Browns. :)

Edit: Hey, @AndyJohnson, if you're gonna disagree, at least say why. :)

Why would you assume Garoppolo would be worth more than McCarron?

Some say 2nd and a 3rd, some say two mid rounders. Either way doesn’t matter, since the browns didn’t get the trade done in time.

McCarron is a restricted free agent in 2018, Jimmy "sucks" G will be a unrestricted free agent in 2018.

Potential is worth a lot in this league and that's exactly what Garoppolo is.

#2 for AJ McCarron
#3 for Katherine Webb-McCarron

Why would you assume Garoppolo has greater potential than McCarron?

This is what happens when your lush of an owner forces your Hall of Fame coaches hand.

Or maybe, if this report is true, nobody was home in Cleveland.

Are the Browns about to implode for not landing QB Jimmy Garoppolo?

Then, on Twitter, NFL insider Benjamin Allbright posted a series of tweets that conveyed some internal dismay over the Garoppolo trade. Because it spanned over five tweets, I will transpose it here:

I got several emails last night that the coaching staff for Browns is HIGHLY upset at the front office. Coaches were in the building working, and the front office went home at 5 PM. While coaches continued to work the night before the trade deadline, Sashi Brown was unaware of the Jimmy G trade and was actually informed of it by an irate coaching staff who had lobbied to acquire him, over an hour after it happened.

The only piece I disagree with is the part regarding the AFC. We sent them a pretty solid LB you may recall

This makes it even worse, the Brown's incompetence prevented any possibility of us acquiring a first from them (which, yes I know, may not have been forthcoming).

Another way of looking at it is that McCarron was worth that price to a team so incompetent they couldn't file the paperwork in time to seal the deal. Why would anyone think they were any more competent at setting the price then they were at sending the fax?
