Maybe it's simply Goodell isn't up to being a Commish

I've heard all kinds of conspiracy theories about Roger Goodell - bought out by this owner - has an ax on this team. The Saints are right to think he had it in for them, but lots of other teams are simply paranoid about him.

Think the truth is Goodell looks at the moment and the public opinion without organization or a long-term plan on discipline. He started this to copycat David Stern - it was popular back then. As imperfect as the justice system may be, laws exist on what crimes constitute and their penalities....Goodell just played it by ear. After a number of bad calls in the 2014 season, he is probably leaning overkill - it's not about justice, but looking like he's doing a good job. Previous commissioners were consistent and had the respect to occasionally make an unpopular decision. If you line up past commissioners, Goodell looks like Mark Sanchez standing with Brady, Montana, Unitas.

I will give him credit for a ten-year collective bargaining agreement - good for stability. But money is driving this league too much when they drool over putting an NFL team in London....long term stability seems to take a back seat to milking this cow until it's dry.
