If Cam is the starter giving Him Julio Jones is like giving a subscription to Porn hub to a devote Monk.

It's a totally different situation than when we paid top dollar mid-season to hope to get one more playoff run for the dynasty, and that WR promptly got injured because of his idiot STs/WRs coach (with his HC's approval) and continued to suck because he was always a gravy-trainer.
As others have speculated is more accurate. All we know is that the Pats didn't make the deal.
I guess what you're saying is that the correctness of a deal is only determined by whether or not Belichick made it. While he's of course owed respect for the Pats' success, he obviously can make mistakes, as I'm sure he'd be the first to say. There's also a difference between saying, "hmmm, I would have liked Julio Jones for a 2nd round draft pick, too bad, but I'll defer to Bill" and some of the whiplash here of...eh, he's damaged goods, WR isn't really a position of need, etc.
BB reached for Sanu because AB screwed them over with his sociopathic behavior and Tom was complaining about not having vet weapons... they were “going all in” and trying to placate their star QB.
Fair I guess but he's on a cheap contract now. 15 and 12 per over the next few years I believe. I can't imagine going crazy for him. Plus if we're to believe him at face value, he wants to win. So there's potential for an easy compromise imo. Especially if Tennessee takes another step.Let's see what his contract renegotiation looks like before we call this a cheap contract, because TEN can't afford to keep him without him agreeing to restructure which means he has the leverage to demand a new contract.
I have np at all with a HOF player that misses a game or two every now and then. It's football, players get hurt and miss time. Jones is still an elite WR and immediately the best player on our team.Let's also see if he can stay on the field. While a healthy JJ can help any team, I doubt the Pats think WR is a position of need after signing two new FA WRs.
He wasn't bad at all last year. Caught 51 / 68 for 15 per clip and 3 TD.Which Julio Jones? The 2020 version? No, thank you.
No it doesn’t.
This feels like it was a very do-able deal. I found myself objecting to the 2023 4th more than anything. I would really like to know if the Pats were ever really in on this player.
I think this is a good move for Tennessee. This puts them in the mix for competing/beating KC and Buffalo.
The Titans just paid significant draft capital while losing salary cap flexibility for an ageing receiver who began showing signs of breaking down all going into a contract year WHILE letting their young, stud TE walk. Don't get me wrong, I would have been happy to add Jones but not at the cost the Titans paid and mortgaging the future for a potential one year deal with an extension first in place. No it doesn’t.
Yup. Sure is. He has the horrendous distinction of a 7-9 (2020) and 9-7 (2002). Can you imagine how much of a rip off BB is ?!!? I mean, if the coach can’t win more than BB, isn’t it time to move on ? Sure every other year since 2001, he’s won double digits, but still….
They could, theoretically of course, have made the move and then reworked Jones' deal to free up the money needed for Gilmore and draft pick(s).Consider that we can use the money to extend Gilmore and still have money left over, plus a 2022 draft pick. And, we still might add a player or two for the future at CB and WR.
But it's NOT just Julio for a second round pick. It's Julio AND 3 draft picks (one of which is a 2nd), AND every dollar of his 15MM dollar salary AND another 2MM next year minimum, or an additional 14MM if you want to keep him for 2022.As others have speculated is more accurate. All we know is that the Pats didn't make the deal.

Here's the thing that ultimately turned me away from Jones. He has made it clear though multiple channels that he not only wants to be paid EVERY dollar of his current contract, but expects to be paid even more in the future.
We saw what happened to another HOF worthy WR after he hit 31 in Randy Moss (who was out of the league at 33 IIRC) Julio is entering that age where HOF quality WR's become merely very good WR's, and then just as quickly become quality NFL starters making a lot more than their play reflects.
That would have been a HUGE risk for a team who is probably a year away from a true run at the championship. Loss of 3 draft picks, a big loss of cap space (this year and beyond). In a vacuum, I would love Julio here. No question he'd be big an upgrade to the WR room. But here's the thing. There has been a big uproar on the board for a "true #1 WR". But I would point out that this franchise has won 6 superbowls WITHOUT a "True #1 WR" and had been to another superbowl without one. In the brief 3 seasons WITH a "true #! wr" We managed only one superbowl appearance (though it should be noted that we only lost that one because copious omissions from the league appointed officials)
The Titans are a better team on paper than they were yesterday, of course, but they WILL have do some cap gymnastics to get him under the number. THey will also have to either redo his contract for MORE money long term, OR just keep him as a one year rental for 3 draft picks.
If the Titan go to the Superbowl this season then this move was a great one. If they don't.....then not so much. Time will tell. The biggest tell will be if during camp he looks like he has recovered his 2019 explosiveness. I'm sure we will all be watching, all our "I told you so's" ready regardless of where you stand on this move.
Sharp is a known Patriots hater. Dolphins fan I think1. Warren Sharp is a troll. (a pretty smart one)
2. If the titans REALLY wanted Julio they would've traded a 1st for him.
