Jimmy G. benched

FWIW word is that his high ankle sprain was still not right and that's why they pulled him.

Honestly at this point I’m glad we don’t have him.

That’s what I thought they based the decision on. That and the OL was horrendous, which is not ideal for a hobbled QB.

QB with high ankle sprain, rushed back, plays poorly in first game back.

All signs point to the high ankle sprain affecting his play.

He’s very overrated here, but he wasn’t benched because he sucked and that’s it. He’s still playing injured on that ankle. Why he was even starting in the first place yesterday is beyond me.

Shanahan should go back to Atlanta. Matt Ryan is the perfect quarterback for him.
Actually, given that the Falcons are in a fight with the Jets for Lawrence right now, I wonder if they’d be better served by trading Ryan to the 49ers. I wonder if this scenario would play out?

- Falcons get #1 overall and draft Lawrence
- Falcons know year 1 is going to be bad anyway, take the huge cap hit and trade Ryan to the 49ers
- 49ers cut Garoppolo which has little dead cap implications
- Cam Newton revitalizes his career and cashes in elsewhere, while BB signs Garoppolo for cheap

Would be kind of funny that BB would get the best of both worlds there - keeping Brady at a high level (and winning more SB) longer than he ever expected to, while ultimately winding up with his chosen successor that he was extremely high on as the starting QB anyway.

It makes sense, but the Jets are looking pretty unstoppable in their quest to be the worst competitive sports team for all of eternity.

That's the way I like my football porn. Straight up with no mixer.

Why is this a thread? His ankle was clearly bothering him still. Watch the ****ing tape people!

Small sample size but I don't think CJ Bethard is that terrible so just to keep that in mind.

2021: Cam is traded to the 49ers for a 2nd after winning the Superbowl with the Patriots. He receives $100mil/3yr contract.

if you look at who the Patriots drafted and trades for using the pick from SF we got a decent haul back. Wouldn’t call the JG pick a wasted pick.

I wouldn't call the haul we got back decent either.

Teams that lose the SB often go downhill. Looks like SF is yet another example. Injuries to key players is an issue, but so is a strong division.

Jimmy had a chance in FEB. He would’ve been wise to capitalize.
