Incognito suspended indefinitely by Dolphins

How dumb would a coach have to be to instruct Incognito to "toughen him up"? It's not like this came out of left field, Richie's been a notoriously sadistic ******* for his entire football career. Just a weird move and really poor judgment all around.

I have no inherent problem with hazing in its more harmless, team-building forms, and I have no problem with veterans policing and toughening up rookies, but anyone who thought that Richie Incognito could handle the job is simply an idiot.

He even LOOKS like Mongo - "don't shoot him, that would just get him mad":

For anyone who missed it last night - - here is the Dolphins coaches meeting showing the decision to send Incognito out on "the mission".

without knowing the details, this can go 1 of 2 ways

1 - the buck stops at incognito and the coaches do not get implicated, he takes the whole fall and the world moves on with the exception of admonishing the coaches for being asleep at the wheel

2 - coaches are implicated and if that proves to be true, the punishments should be as sever as what NO got for the bounty scandal. In fact, I think this is worse.

either way, this is going to be interesting

...

You are 100% totally, entirely making up that.
Please show me any comment from anyone anywhere that says Martin faced physical danger by not handing over $15,000.

Seriously, what is your problem? No one is saying he is a gangster - - it was an ANALOGY - - just like the "following orders" point was an ANALOGY (as in, no one is saying he is a Nazi death camp officer). Seriously, get a grip on yourself.

But extortion is extortion. There were "repercussions" for not paying up. Those "repercussions" were obviously worth more than $15,000 to the person paying up.

No one said that Martin faced PHYSICAL danger in not handing over $15k.

Obviously, in the Andy Johnson (extremely) Abridged Dictionary, the term "repercussions" = "physical danger".

You are now just playing with the english language and making incredible jumps. It is not worth the time.

I seriously don't know how anyone has the stamina to keep up with Andy when it comes to these debates.

The dude's a machine. An obtuse, word-parsing machine. Gotta love him when he's making posts you agree with because you can just go 'oh good, I don't have to worry about arguing for the next 17 pages nonstop someone else has got that.'

Umm, YOU DID.

Like I said earlier - - straight from the Whitey Bulger playbook.

God bless those shop owners in Southie who (hopefully) don't have to go through those kind of "repercussions to their bank accounts" again........otherwise their faces would have to "get in the way of his fist".

Do you not even read your own posts?

No, it comes from reading your posts, as above.

No, I am following your argument and logic, which certainly is an incredible jump.

What you are doing is not worth the time.
Then grow up and either have a discussion or admit you aren't mature enough to have one without personal insults and the overwhelming stubborness to not even admit you are wrong when you contradict your own argument.

See above. The mature thing to do would be for you to admit that yes, it was you that equated violence to the $15,000 and that you must either believe your first argument or the one you made here because you just called yourself wrong. I'm not betting on your reaching that level though.

LOL - - he's trying for Deus' territory - but no one can reach that Shangri La.

All kidding aside, Andy, you were an awesome running back and one of my favorite players!

You have the option of not responding and ending it there.

(whispering) Andrew, Incognito is not Whitey Bulger and Jonathan Martin is not a Southie shopkeeper. It was an ANALOGY about extortion techniques......

You're getting overwrought. Have a cream soda and breathe.

My webinar that I was half-watching is now over and I'm going to get some lunch - - wanna pay for it?

Oh no, you aren't going to ensnare me in your web. I stopped responding. This one doesn't count as a response.

Another former Dolphins employee told me Martin is considered "soft" by his teammates and that's a reason he's not readily accepted by some of the players, particularly the black players. His background -- Stanford educated and the son of highly educated people -- was not necessarily seen as a strength or a positive by some players and it perpetuated in the way Martin carried himself.

Read more here: Incognito considered black in Dolphins locker room | Miami Dolphins In Depth

What is really telling is that all these other Dolphin players are coming to Richie's defense and other players around the league are saying that Martin should have kept it in the locker room.

A lot of things happen in the locker room that does not happen in a normal setting.

You are the one who made the example, and you appear to be the one who is overwrought throughout this thread.

I am the one who has calmly been saying I want facts to draw a conclusion and you are acting childish with your personal insults, strawmen and sensationalism.
The high and mighty response here, is just what is next in line.
Soon I expect you will be calling me names.

Bringing up my name in a thread where my position has been fully vindicated and you look like a clown is pretty sad, particularly for a mod.

Remember that when you're bagging on others.

If you guys don't mind, I have a football related post.....

But despite the derogatory and racially charged language in Incognito's voice mail, Dolphins center Mike Pouncey and star wide receiver Mike Wallace both told ESPN's Cris Carter that they want Incognito back on the team.
Carter recounted his conversations with Pouncey and Wallace during an interview Wednesday on "SportsCenter," claiming that both players "respect" and "love" Incognito.

Pouncey, who has been teammates with Incognito for parts of three seasons, and Wallace, in his first year with the Dolphins, told Carter that they do not believe Incognito is a racist.

Pouncey told Carter, however, that he was never instructed by coaches to toughen up Martin.

We can't hear the call. We can hear the video. In print, the voicemail looks malicious. Upon hearing it, you could find out that this is something that was being done in the locker room and it could have just been one teammate aggressively getting on another teammate for not showing up at OTA's. The worst part is the shock that the "I'll kill you" part is generating, since that hasn't been discussed at length in this thread. Again, it's possible he could have meant it. It's also possible that he was telling a teammate something that most of us have told friends or acquaintances. Just the other day, I told a co-worker that I would kill him if he kept making an annoying noise with his throat on a road trip. So yeah, context.

If you can find it on a replay, go listen to Chris Carter talking about the situation. It's from Sportscenter this morning, and it backs up the "culture" issue about the dreaded 'n' word, just as we've been saying. He also says that he was told the table thing was a running joke among the linemen, that Martin had participated in it many times himself, and that it had even been done to the head coach.

That article was weird. Incognito was viewed as "more black" than Martin?
