Incognito suspended indefinitely by Dolphins

Hey AndyJohnson, care to explain those texts? Still think he's innocent? Oh wait, I'm sure you still need more evidence...

So your argument is that wanting to have evidence to draw a conclusion is wrong?

Also heard on radio today that Scott Pioli said he never wanted incognito on any of his teams.Didnt like the guy.

I wish Tedy didn't say that. now Goodell will probably come down on the Patriots for not reporting it to the league. As I said in a prior post in this thread, Goodell will probably over compensate with his punishments in this case to make the league look good ie. The league didn't know any of this was going on. If it did we would have stopped it a long time ago.

FYI, we don't know that Philbin didn't try to stop it. I doubt Richie would have listened to him.

It's denial when you mischaracterize things.

The administrator at that site gave a rundown of how he tracked information by that poster to the same IP as Incognito's father's business. All the other stuff could have been made up (how the poster signed up to the service a while back with Incognito's father's birthday, how the poster was signed up a decade ago and revealed that he grew up in Jersey and lived in Glendale, Arizona; etc.) All the administrator did is show how the posts connect to Incognito's business. And then the post made by that poster started disappearing.
I didn't mischaracterize anything, I said I lack confidence in the validity of the source. Still do. Doesn't mean I am right, means I am skeptical.

No, my argument is that we've already seen truckloads of evidence to make an informed conclusion which goes beyond any reasonable doubt.

Not surprised you didn't get that.

$1700 for 7 or 8 LBers is not bad. $30,000 for the whole team split between 5-6 rookies is brutal, even taking into consideration that the Rookie Salary when Bruschi was a Rookie was $131,000 compared to the current $405,000.

Rookies get about $23, 820 per game check before taxes. Probably just under $16,000 after. But that doesn't give the vets the right to drop a $30K tab on them.. Even if it is divided between 5 or 6 or even 9 other rookies.

Yeah, definitely agree. Incognito seems to only equate power with the ability to beat the **** out of someone, which he could certainly do to Philbin.

Add on a decent tip and you have around $36,000.

If any vet told me to pay for their dinner, I'd tell them to go f(make sex) with themselves.

Well, using your own numbers, $5,000 today is a smaller percentage of their annual income than $1,700 was back when Bruschi was a rookie. :singing:

The good thing is that it'll be easier for the pats to market themselves to UDFA by saying that they don't let rookies get hazed financially like that.

:rocker:

Here's an example of how it was handled when things got out of hand for us. When I was a rookie, I was asked to take the entire LB group to dinner. It cost me $1,700. As it got up to my 8th and 9th year, it turned into an entire team dinner and all the rookies paying for the dinner. That bill sometimes reached upwards of $30,000. Word got out that it was getting out of hand. I remember one captains meeting when Bill Belichick said 'That's enough of that. It's getting out of hand, guy.' Joe Philbin should have been all over this.

That's it right there. Rookies buying dinner is a tradition, and it's not one that should be a problem. It's the size of the check that can be a problem.

If any vet told me to pay for their dinner, I'd tell them to go f(make sex) with themselves.

I'm not sure why people keep saying this. If the vets told you to pay for their dinner, you'd pay for their dinner. It's just the way it is.

If only it was that easy. You would be constantly harassed, disrespected by your teammates and it would hurt your career....

My question is what about the other Miami veteran offensive linemen? Why didn't they, either individually or collectively, pull Incognito aside privately and say that this behavior was over the line and counter productive?

Good point. And they may have some legal culpability for them, depending on what they witnessed and didn't report.

I would never do it. It's just the way I am.

And inside of about two weeks, you'd be cut off from all teaching by vets, all communications during scrimmages and games, and amazingly the coaches would become convinced that you were the problem with most of the OL breakdowns (because that's what the vets would be telling them).

That's a mature culture you're defining.

Then you'd be ostracized in the locker room by veterans and rookies alike and the bullying would get even worse. Some things are just tradition. Rookies buying veterans dinner is one of those traditions, just look vets giving rookies ugly haircuts. As has been mentioned, the problem in this case is the sheer size of the bill.

I dont know what goes in the locker rooms but I assume so of it is playful tradition like the dinner tab and haircuts. Of course 30000+ is a ridicolous amount of money but the added threats and insults which go with it are what worser. Iam sure it happens to a lesser extent in other teams but not sure every team's vets keep their rookies that scared and under the hammer. Depends what kind of vets/people you have too.

I grew out of this sort of behaviour when I was fifteen. I'm really shocked that people are defending this immaturity.

So your opinion is that if the Dolphins suspended him then he is guilty of every possible thing being suggested, and we should just stop here and banish him for life, and there is no need to see what he allegedly did, and what the proof is.
So, when Spygate broke and Goddell summoned BB to NY the Patriots were guilty in your eyes and you didn't need to know what, where or why?

Way to fly off the handle with wild assumptions there, Mr. Careful.

Summoning someone to NY is not the equivalent of indefinitely suspending someone.

Pity you cannot tell the difference.

The immediate suspension after viewing the first pieces of evidence proves that there is SOMETHING very wrong there. How much (since the suspension currently is "indefinite") we don't know.
