If the OL continues to suck, what are Zappe’s chances to make the 53?

What makes you think so?
Blind fan alert! V Lowe @ LT doesn't give you the creeps??

I wish Zappe well. He has made a heck of an effort, an admirable effort against tough odds, but he's got hard ceiling at - what? - the "adequate backup" level - maybe. Milton is an interesting enough prospect that he is worth keeping, and I think there is little chance he can be gotten to the practice squad. Given that this year is in my view entirely about next year and years following, you go with potential over demonstrated ability, particularly when the level of ability demonstrated is as low as Zappe's. Might it cost us a win if the worst (x2) happens and Milton starts before he is ready? Sure. And so what. Let's be honest: this year a notch up in the draft order is far more valuable than the measly satisfaction of winning three rather than two games. Besides - and this actually matters in the entertainment biz - Milton would be a lot more fun to watch, even in a loss, than Zappe would. Best of luck, Zapster, and sayonara.

Yeah why would any team trade for him when putting him up on the trade block means the Pats are going to move him off the roster anyway. They can have him for free on waivers.
I assume he is on the team for the same reason we always carry, and play, a bunch of running backs during the summer. To take the beating in the preseason while the real players rest and take reps in a more controlled practice environment. While I agree with that approach to some extent I would like to see Maye get some actual game experience even if it means a potential injury risk. I think the reward outweighs the risk when it comes to a 21 year old as raw as he is.

I think it’s starting to look like they keep Zappe. Maye is evidently far far away as they are worried to put him in even for preseason games. And they aren’t likely to be throwing Milton in there in the event of an injury to Brissett either.

What IF Milton is ahead at this time Hmmmmm??

@Steve102 on the real how do you really feel about this Team now??

1) Brisk ended his season last year with a hamstring injury.
2) The Pats have an exceptionally questionable OL.
3) The rookies may not be ready to play with 2).
4) Zap is not going back on the Pats PS and will re-sign elsewhere. He's super durable - not sure he's had a real injury in college and the pros (previously called his thighs, "thicc"). Probably MIN where another 4th Rd draft pick played dome ball with amazing receivers and got silly money as a result of it. He just needs to beat out Darnold and Mullens. Thinking Raiders or 49ers as well.

I fully agree with you. We'll see in the next 12 days.

I've been waiting for the right time to post this...

Apologies for the misogyny.

Maybe being cautious with Maye makes sense. Look at J.J. McCarthy.
