If the OL continues to suck, what are Zappe’s chances to make the 53?

Barth is projecting that Zappe makes the roster. So get ready for more Zappe time!
I could see it somewhat. If they don’t want Maye starting right away then he’s one injury away from starting anyway, so having two layers of depth ahead of him would help there. Though IMO it’s more likely he ends up starting than they keep Zappe.

I feel they will keep zappe because brissett play has tailed off significantly. This year might probably be the last of brissett 's big bridge contracts .

To avoid team resentment and defense call for maye to play prematurely, zappe might be a good stop gap option for first 6 games. I strongly feel that is more valuable than a 9th offensive lineman or 4th LB or 6th WR etc.

The primary goal would be to protect maye at all costs till game 5 and secondary goal would be to have players whom you want to see develop and be around for 25 or 26.

I think Osborne might be the odd man out from WR group and Bourne will probably not play at all again for pats.

Baker , Boutte, Thornton , Reagor will be vying for 2 spots for 2025 and douglas and Polk will be the other 2 . The 5th WR will be either Higgins, lamb or aiyuk .

No point playing os Osborne on a losing season and taking reps away from younger players. The front office mentality might have changed from the free agency period.

A few people have suggested that Milton could provide that extra layer. There’s no way that happens. Even one reason is enough: Drake is a competitor and he will not accept a raw and less talented Milton starting over him. Zappe is the litmus test for where they think Drake is with his development.

After that putrid OL performance against the Eagles, Mayo and Wolf must be having nightmares of Maye’s mangled body being carted off the field. I put it at 95%. Woohoo, carrying 4! Zappemonium!
Patriots know Zappe won't clear waivers.
Milton will end up on the PS. Brisset is injury prone. So to me, this makes Zappe the back up to Drake Maye.

Z might clear waivers. Or, he might not. It’s hard to say. Either way, I suspect that’s the last we’ll see of him as a Patriot. If he clears, they’d have to sell him on the PS. With so many guys ahead of him, I think he’ll be looking for a more stable gig (just got married, etc.) and move on.

Milton to the PS will not happen. He has sporadically dazzled with his athleticism, ferocity and arm, but he’s not even close to ready (if he ever will be). The Pats drafted him as a project, and some team will steal their project if they try to slip him onto the PS. He’s on the 53.

Drake likely isn’t starting until the second half of the season, at least. But that one’s been discussed to death.

JB will bore us all to death before his injury. Zappe time is inevitable.
