He’s a vested veteran, so he’s not subject to waivers until after the trading deadline. And, like Mike Gillislee, his salary was fully guaranteed after being on the Lions roster for week one, Thus, he has no incentive to sign anywhere unless someone pays him more than the Lions are paying him to sit on his couch.

As an aside, his salary is only "fully guaranteed" because he was on the 53 man roster for Week 1 of the season. Had he not been, his salary wouldn't be guaranteed.

Also, from what I can tell, Flowers contract was a vet minimum contract of $790K.

They are loaded with young talent. The young players have developed and are doing the job which makes Collins expendable. When Collins was brought in, the Browns were a 3 - 4 defense and now Greg Williams has switched to a 4 - 3 scheme. Its hard to argue with the results.

Dorsey wants to make it his team and he was not the guy who traded for Collins or gave him his contract.

The big difference being McCourty is already on the team and accounted for against the cap. No one is suggesting we free up $12 million to add him to the roster. I wouldn't.

Cutting players and/or restructuring contracts and pushing money into the future to add a guy we traded when he was cheap doesn't make much sense.

Collins didnt want to be here. Didnt follow his assignments and wanted more money. They were not going to be able to pay both collins and hightower. And we actually won another SB the season we won the SB.
