He shouldn't costalot...

not funny...my ex -wife was named Constance Costalott....I'm broke now because she couldn't keep her shoes addiction in check...:ugh:

They have to be planning Revised Talib and Allen or Ware or Melton.
I know BB would love to stick it to Rex just cough up a third keep him away for the Jets.
Sign Talib at 6.5 mill a year Revis 9 mill a year.
Allen or Ware 4 a mill I can help.
If they trade for him he's not taking a pay cut. Why would he? 16m per year is what you're trading for.

They practically stole Ward if Ware signs for under 6 million they stole him as well.
That's not putting all your chips in thats amazing Gming hell we pay a over the hill Soppoga close to 3.

Take a deep breath. You're already essentially writing off the 2014 season and looking forward to 2015. Wait 4 weeks and see how you feel, and then wait six more and let us know after the draft. Hopefully by then you'll be off the ledge a little

Anyone care to recount who the movers and shakers were in day one of FA last year?

The Dolphins, of course. Mike Wallace, Daniel Ellerbe, Philip Wheeler. They sure narrowed the gap in the AFC East in a hurry.

I will take it all In stride and keep the team building in perspective
Will not whine not a troll found this website back in 7th grade detention fell in love with it then reaching out to fellow Pats fans who have more knowledge of the team and game then myself.
Love my Patriots wear my gear in Eagle and Steelers country.
Just want to see Bill lift the Lombardi again while he still is the head coach.
Sorry for the whining I'm Bill we trust.

They did get Ward for a very good deal, however, his addition alone isn't going to turn that D into a top 10 unit.

Ware is an interesting proposition. As some posters have noted, he's a "boom or bust" kinda guy... A good season, and that D could be really good. However if he has a not so good season, then it will really sting Denver. Especially since I don't believe that signing both of them will allow them to retain Decker, barring a hometown discount. Furthermore, if they do sign Ware, then I doubt that they will pursue Allen, who IMO, is probably the better player.

You also have to consider the hand the Denver Mannings were dealt. They built a talented offense through drafting, and spent a decent number of seasons missing the playoffs. Manning's arrival was simply provided them with a nucleus to turn them into a contender. Once those rookie deals expire, they are going to look a lot weaker on paper. And besides my man, we can almost always count on Peyton choking at SOME POINT in the playoffs.

Also the Browns and Colts. Sure did all three of those franchises a lot of good.

Meanwhile, smart teams like Seattle waited and made huge value signings to shore up positions of need and overload DL talent. I've already on record as being skeptical that this strategy will work as well in 2014, but it's something that everyone should bear in mind before freaking out that we haven't signed anyone after a whole day.

speaking of making huge splashes in free agency...has Barfalo done anything?

Look at this way. Getting Wilfork,Mayo,Vollmer and Kelly back along with a possible gem in Armstead is almost like getting 4 free agents. All that really matters now is a good draft and getting a top rated cb through free agency.
Sounds more like a World War I battlefield scene:

"Medic! Medic!"

Right on, we're all with you man. Just remember that the offseason is really long, and there are a ton of components to it. It basically began today, but it's far from over. The draft matters about 100 times more than the first day of free agency, and there are still plenty of good players out there to sign. Don't give up on the Pats after one day.

Rising cap will bail them out.

Rising cap bails out teams that sign guys to astronomical contracts that balloon on the back end. It won't help them keep all of Wilson, Harvin, Sherman, Chancellor, Wright, Wagner, Mebane, etc. The other teams that will be bidding against them are experiencing the same rising cap. The Seahawks are going to lose a bunch of their young talent, which is what always happens when a team drafts really well over a 3-4 year stretch. What remains to be seen is if they can draft well enough to fill the holes that that creates.

I heard Denver got Ward for just over 5 per year that's a great deal. all the other top safeties are getting 9 plus

They're already trying to unload Wallace.

A guy who many on this board pined for, despite the fact that he was a selfish payer who wanted to be paid ridiculously, and who couldn't run a route tree to save his life. Yeah, that one worked out real well for them.

Day 1 of Free Agency is where desperate, undisciplined and incompetent teams grossly overpay, selling their fan bases on false hope for a few months before coming to terms with reality when the regular season rolls around. We're fortunate not to be in that position, but the majority of this board long for it as though it were Nirvana.

the irony for me is ..a lot of these posts by disappointed fans are almost exactly the same thoughts and words I used back in 2001...and 2002...and 2003...eventually I just gave up. Bill will do what Bill wants to do...he's got THAT power. We all know there will be a flurry of moves after the initial big signings are over. If we were going to be a player it would have happened already.

The only way anyone signs in Buffalo is if it's for unprecedented guaranteed money or there's literally no other option, so... no.
