What should the penalty be for carrying 2 loaded weapons on your carrying on a long plane flight?

Since 2001. the US has spent many billions to prevent such occurences.
I have no idea, and I don't like playing WebSearchEngine Law School lawyer / judge.

I didn't ask what the penalty is.

I asked what the penalty SHOULD be. Personally, I would think that this is serious crime, with serious time associated with conviction.

Note: Growing up in Long Beach, CA, JJ got tight with Snoop Dogg thru football. Probably learned how to **** the glock rolling thru the 562 during his formative years.
FYI: Willie McGinest is a Long Beach native as well. Also tight with Mr. Double G
Long Beach gets thrown around as some ghetto in pop culture, but there's only a small part of the town of a fairly big city that's bad which is the Westside or as Snoop and other Long Beach Rappers would say "Westsiiide!". For people that live in or near Long Beach know it's mostly a really nice beach community.

Willie and Snoop went to Poly High School together which was in the bad part of town. While it known for it's academics (as weird as that sounds) it's also know was a football powerhouse. However, they weren't good at any other sport.

He did not hurt anyone. He did not try to hurt anyone. Just a bonehead move. Serious time? No idea what that means to you, but I can not agree that being careless should lead to what I think "serious time" means.

Patriots fans clamoring for more weapons.
So Jack Jones listened ... and delivered.
That was some much needed humor
This thread is starting to sound like a Chiefs forum thread
But in a Chiefs forum thread they would have brought Mother’s into this 5 pages ago

If carrying loaded weapons on airplane is OK, then we might as well abolish the TSA. We've wasted many billions since 911.

It is NOT carelessness to have loaded guns in your carryon.

HOWEVER, your view is the federal one. Penalties are mere fines, unless of course you are Arab or Muslim.

MA does have more serious laws about carrying loaded guns in a public place.
===============
BOTTOM LINE
In keeping with current US only attitudes toward guns, little is likely to get done beyond the federal fine.

Of course, the NFL and Kraft might have other ideas.

You have to be proven to have malicious intent to get jail time. Like i posted about, it happens about 7000 times a year in the US. Many dont even get arrested, but it is MA afterall. Usually a fine and some kind of program, with what is generally considered to be the worse outcome, is losing your ability to own a firearm. They tend to be more lenient with High net-worth and public figures, which believe it or not, has happened countless times before. Again, not saying he gets a pass, but he aint going to jail. Not a chance unless there is more to the story. The vast majority of these cases get thrown out.. Same thing happened to Mike Epps about 3 months ago.

After reading about it, he was probably arrested because of the extended Mag which is illegal in MA. Depended on where he was traveling to, and where and if his guns were permitted, that's what could be his undoing. You can also buy a gun in another state with the intent to get it permitted in another state. There's often a grace period in states that require you to have a license in the first place. Remember, this is the United states, not Australia.
Thanks for the insight
I think he was going to Hawaii lol

No wonder that the Patriots drafted 3 CBs. Jack Jones is a goner

He did not carry weapons on an airplane. Yearly, there are 100s of instances of people accidentally having firearms in their carry on bag. No need to abolish the TSA. Jack Jones did not threaten or try to trick the TSA. I am lost what point you are making.
It is NOT carelessness to have loaded guns in your carryon.
Sure it is. Very careless. No idea what you are saying.

I do not want to include Arabs or Muslims in the discussion. My view is a commonsense view. We have social justice discussions in society because people overreact to minor issues like right now you are overreacting to a minor, non-violent, case.
MA does have more serious laws about carrying loaded guns in a public place.

Let's hope so.

We will see what the final charges are. If it ends up being a misdemeanor with fines I doubt the NFL will do much. Kraft is good friends with Meek Mill and many NFL players. Lots of players have guns so I think Kraft is sensitive to the fact that culturally attitudes differ and he needs to be temperate in his response.

You never mentioned what you meant by "serious time".

I’m not sure WTF you are talking about. Why would you eliminate TSA for doing its job and not allowing a guy to bring a gun on board?

For me, I would want carrying a loaded gun onto a plane to carry a fine of at least 6 months in jail. For me, that is common sense. And the issue is much more about the guns being loaded. I SUPPOSE one could be careless and put the unloaded guns in the carryon instead of the checked baggage.
==============================
I guess this is a state matter other than for the minimal federal fine.

As an aside, do you really believe that a poor Arab would be treated in the same way as an NFL football player? There is lots of land available a few hours south of me up for sale if that is true,

Also, I am fine with every player in the NFL owning guns. That Kraft knows gun owners is NOT relevant. Ido trust his judgement in dealing with the case.

from CBS
State police confirmed to CBS News that Jones was charged with two state counts each of possession of a concealed weapon in a secure area of an airport, possession of ammunition without a firearm identification card, unlawful possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm and possession of a large-capacity feeding device.
================
Jones was charged six criminal counts.
=================
I suggested that conviction should carry a penalty of at least 6 months in jail. We'll see.

Relax.

I strongly support TSA's actions. I do think that penalties should be much more than a small fine.

I was reacting to the poster who thought that it was no big deal to carry loaded weapons onto planes.

It happens 100s of times a year. Having a bullet in a gun looks like an unloaded gun, not a big difference between loaded and unloaded.

Your supposition is correct. This is not part of your culture so you might react differently than others. If we put everyone who does not hurt anyone, or try to hurt anyone, but does something dangerous in jail for 6 months, we would have to build more jails. The cost of the extra jails would make the cost of TSA look trivial.

Is your position really that it was OK to carry guns on the plane, and that it was carelessness than BOTH guns were loaded.

In MA, this is a matter for jury.
=========
My culture?

When I was a teenager, we always had many guns in the house. My stepfather always carried at least one gun in the car when we travelled. Both my stepfather and stepbrother were avid hunters. In fact, they shot pheasant in the fields behind our house. We raised our own hunting dogs. Many of my friends were hunters. And yes, almost everyone used guns for sport, primarily shooting at targets. Whenever, we traveled on foot, my stepfather carried a gun.
============================
That being said, I believe there is an important place for guns in our society. And that place is NOT, is NOT, carrying loaded guns into an airport or a plane (or as MA law states "not in a public place"). Every gun should be registered. Every owner should be trained and tested regularly (as for driving a car). The police should have the tools to investigate gun crimes, including having every criminal, gun and gun owner in their data base. The police should be equipped with much better weapons than they now have, and they should be required to wear cameras.

And in MA culture, where the crime took place. it is NOT OK to carry large magazines.

There is no poster that thought it was no big deal to carry a loaded weapon on planes.
I retract. One poster implied that it was OK to carry a gun on plane, and careless to have the gun loaded.
