Patriots Injury News DT Milton Williams coming back

Interesting. Good to get more OL depth, considering recent circumstances.
Perhaps we will have sufficient backups active in the next couple of games. When Moses and Munford went out were in very serious trouble. Of course, the Moses the Iron Man came back and played injured.

Who was the next OT? Who would have come in if Moses couldn't come back in?

Who cares about a what-if that never happened?

Who was next on the depth chart if Stevenson had been injured?

Who was next on the depth chart if Barmore and Durden were injured?

We could keep going all week.

As long as he is ready to go and at least close to 100% by the first playoff game, I will be happy. Same goes with Campbell.

I think the Pats can beat the Jets and Dolphins without him.

Vrabel won't play any of these guys until they are good to go, just as he did with Gonzalez.

Very interesting that Williams wasn't activated today with Josh Farmer going onto the IR.

The Concussion to Wilson bears watching and may end his season based on the Pats signing Brenden Jaimes to the 53.

Also interesting that they signed an addition WR when they have Chism on the 53 along with Webb and Jiles on the PS with both Boutte and Douglas ailing.

It DID happen. We had one backup for both OT positions and two tackle were injured. We were very, very lucky that Moses was able to return even though he previous left the game injured.

Vrabel CHOSE not to be prepared. Bryant could have been active. Vrabel chose to take the risk.

Perhaps I fuss about nothing. Perhaps Wallace is all of a sudden a better option at RT than Bryant. I think that Wallace might have been active.

I get it. Takes the risks. Play the game and IGNORE what could have happened.

Perhaps Josh shouldn't bother talking to Drake about the interceptions that didn't happen. Of course, that's NOT the way Josh works.

I don't know if this has already been posted, but it sounds like Williams Could return this Sunday

Patriots make move on injured DT Milton Williams

New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel revealed that the team will start the 21-day practice window for star defensive tackle Milton Williams this week.

Williams was placed on injured reserve with an ankle injury after the team's Week 11 win over the New York Jets. He sat out a mandatory four games, and if he's ready, he would be eligible to return for Sunday's rematch against the Jets.

Despite Josh Farmer being put on IR, Williams was not activated. Still plenty of time before the Jets game for that to happen.

This might be hard for you to understand, but the Pats have Mike Onwenu who has played RT and they have Caeden Wallace, who spent his entire starting college career playing RT. Either could have been pressed into service in an emergency.

No. You don't get it. Because you're too ignorant to think beyond your myopic point of view.

The Coaches KNOW who the next person would have been in that situation. You knowing doesn't matter at all. the fact that you can't fathom the team putting Wallace or Onwenu at RT on an emergency basis is why you aren't ever taken seriously.

Yes you fuss about nothing. It literally did not happen. Something that never happened is by definition nothing.

Now you are a Josh whisperer? LOL

Barmore is prob more excited than anyone.

Welcome Back!

That's YOUR ignorance talking.

No. It didn't happen because Moses was able to go. If the was that INJURED vs HURT, the team would have done what was necessary.

You're a FAN. You aren't owed a DAMN THING about what the Pats would do in an emergency situation.

Who would you have sat in favor of dressing a 9th O-lineman? Go ahead and tell everyone since you're oh so SMART...

BOTTOM LINE
As always, I should have simply presumed that Vrabel had a plan for any contingency. I should have noticed that Wallace must have moved ahead of Bryant as a RT backup.
=============
WHO WOULD I HAVE HAD ACTIVE
My opinion is that I would have had Mapu inactive and Bryant active. You are correct. I didn't consider the possibility of moving Onwenu to RT and give Wallace his first reps of the season at RG. I also didn't even notice that Wallace was active. Someone getting their first reps seems to play only ST's for a week or two or perhaps plays a bit of garbage time.

Finally, where a player played in college is irrelevant in an emergency situation in a game. We HAD a backup RT for over ten weeks. That player was Bryant.

I wouldn't have Mapu on the 53. I would have waived him the day that Tavai was activated. I have said that since forever. But, yes, that is only my uninformed "fan" opinion.

I have watched since Mapu was drafted to see how our coaches could make him a contributing player. I didn't object to the pick. I just presumed that team had a plan and a use for him.

It probably would have been brown at rg and Onwenu kicking out to rt

Or perhaps a backup who can play guard and both tackles is more valuable than a backup who plays only RT?

And, talk about overthinking things, while not paying attention:

IMO more likely just Wallace at RT, that is least disruptive, minimal shuffling and leaves Brown available to back up IOL if any of Wilson, Bradbury, or Onwenu gets dinged up.

The better line is brown at g and Onwenu at T.
You don’t put worse players on the field so you can hold back the better one in case something else happens. Brown is next up, if another injury happens then you are forced to play Wallace which you would only do with no other choice.
Wallace is not a T. They banished him from that spot. Having one guy change position is better than putting the worst player you have on field in a position he can’t play at an nfl level
