I Don't Think That Vrabel Will Draft Hunter At 4

If we could get Hunter in a trade up into the 1st I'd probably be good with it, he's a REALLY good player.
People calling him "Generational" are clueless.
He's played against bumbs, and obviously dominated them...which he should have.
Good Player? Obviously, I like him plenty.
Top 4? Not in my universe.

Who is worth drafting in the top 4?

I'd LOVE to give Hunter a shot, I just feel different about him than many others.
I'm EXCITED about Campbell or Membou, IMO... we can't **** around anymore.(ESPECIALLY CAMPBELL - HE'S Played LT AT A HIGH DEGREE against the BEST for 3 years- 4 Sacks, started as a true freshman)
I'm a simple guy, I see talent, I want talent, especially where we need SOMETHING to fix it.
I hear all the crap everyday about BPA. I personally feel different about the word "Best"...."We can get this right tackle at 38/800... he'll be as good"
Ya, NO just get a man that has, and can do it DEFINITELY...this is JMHO.

I have swung back and forth with who to take at 4#. But unless Hunter is available, then I think we stay where we are and draft Campbell

The thing with prospect evaluation is that traits that are expected to translate to the pro level are what get focused on more than actual college production. Bailey Zappe set the all-time single season record for passing yards and touchdowns in the FBS (the highest level of college football). But he did it playing in a mid-major conference (C-USA). He lacked any elite physical traits, and fell to the 4th round in a weak QB class where the only NFL quality starter ended up being the very last player taken in that draft (Brock Purdy). But on the other hand of the spectrum you have a guy like Josh Allen, who also played in a mid-major conference but was drafted 7th overall because despite questions of his performance and competition, he had elite traits that ultimately translated very well at the pro level.

Travis Hunter showed himself to be an excellent player in the Big 12, which while not the best conference in the nation it is still a Power 4 conference. Hunter won awards for being the best overall player (Heisman), best WR in the nation (Biletnikoff), and best defensive player in the nation (Bednarik). Matt Harmon, who does extensive film study and tracks wide receiver performance for a living, tracked Hunter as one of the best WR profiles he’s ever seen. His game should translate very well to the pro level because his ability to track the ball is elite, whether it’s at CB or WR. There are no can’t-miss prospects ever, because anyone can flop, but I like his chances of succeeding, and I can only hope it’s here with us.

Agree with this completely. We can take the summary’s provided, and look at some plays, but the teams do detailed analysis of these kids, and have far more information on them than we will ever have.

Of course Hunter didn't face the best defenders in college football. But neither did Mahomes at Texas Tech. Who were all the studs CeeDee Lamb faced week after week at Oklahoma? Josh Allen at Wyoming?

The NFL is full of great players that didn't come from the SEC or Big 10. And both those conferences have plenty of 1st round picks that faced the best competition in college and did nothing in the pros. It goes both ways.
I agree. However, playing against lower-level competition often means that the player is drafted lower than he would be if he played against better competition.

Who is worth drafting in the top 4?

I think most here would rather draft everyone other than Carter and Hunter a little lower than 4, but you have to get a good offer to do that, and you don’t want to move to far and lose the guys you like.

I’m in the trade down camp if the guy at 4 is not rated sig higher to other guys on your board.

I think a trade with Cleveland could be possible Milton could right his wrong.

I believe the team’s brass when they say that they’re gonna take the best player available at four. If Hunter is available that means Hunter and if Carter is available, that means Carter. A four win team shouldn’t be drafting for need, a 4 win team should be trying to stockpile stars anywhere they can be found.

If we stay put at four, I’d rather take Graham or Walker. They seem like safer bets to be impact players than the offensive lineman that are available. Yes, we don’t need another defensive tackle, but drafting Graham would give us the opportunity a field a top five defensive line. At this stage, the left side of the offensive line is going to be a question mark no matter what. If this is our last best chance to get a top 10 player in the near future, the team better damn well find a top 10 worthy player.
