ChatGPT predicts Patriots' 2025 season results and key player stats

How are we only 10-7 with 4300 passing yards, 2 RBs combing for almost 1900 (add in Maye and that may lead the league) and 36 passing tds plus at least 17 rushing TDs. This would probably be a top 3 offense. AI must hate our D.
It's AI and it can only evaluate based on trends and data it can formulate. A jump from 4 to 10 wins is probably on the high end of the parameters it's getting for possible improvement despite the stupid stats its coming with

Strange....When I ask ChatGPT specifically about Polk it comes up with this:

A balanced projection for Polk in 2025 might look like:

~35 receptions, 450 receiving yards, and 2–3 touchdowns
If he makes the team that’s a much more realistic projection for him.

I feel like there's no excuse other than injuries for this team to not win at least 9 games and I'm being generous. The talent level in the NFL is not what it used to be and you have plenty of garbage teams winning more games than they should. The Commanders are trash and they won 12 games. The Bills somehow keep winning more than 10 games per year and their WR's make the Pats WR's we complained about during the dynasty years looks like All Pro's. The Pats won 10 games in 2021 and that roster was bad.

No excuses.

This is ********. They were one of the worst team’s in football last season, and an optimistic projection for them is 9 wins. Calling that the minimum that’s acceptable is a deliberate attempt at setting them up to fail.

I love their offseason, coaching changes, and all the optimism surrounding them, and I’m hoping they are in the Wild Card race in December, but I’m sure as hell not going to label them as underachievers if they don’t reach that goal.

So it sounds like AI can't evaluate football.

You can't predict a top 3 offense, along with a good defense and also predict only 10 wins.

Well really it sounds like AI just sucks at evaluation in general.

Because it doesn't matter what the topic. If you predict that X will perform good to great on all relevant metrics, but then produce a mediocre result that's weird.

I don't know if this has been poster yet. its hard to take it seriously when it has Polk with 90 rec and over 900 yrd receiving

Final record and postseason prediction

  • 10-7 record (postseason appearance)
ChatGPT had the Patriots finishing the season with a 10-7 record and making a Wild Card playoff appearance. They ultimately fell in the playoffs to the Baltimore Ravens, but not before showing major signs of growth and development across the roster

    • Drake Maye (QB):4,307 passing yards, 36 touchdowns, 8 interceptionsCompletion %: 66.1 | Passer Rating: 104.3
    • TreVeyon Henderson (RB):1,104 rushing yards, 10 touchdowns, 4.6 YPC321 receiving yards, 2 receiving touchdowns
    • Rhamondre Stevenson (RB):752 rushing yards, 7 touchdowns288 receiving yards, 1 touchdown
    • Kyle Williams (WR):1,203 receiving yards, 6 touchdowns, 89 receptions
    • Ja’Lynn Polk (WR):960 receiving yards, 7 touchdowns, 90 receptions
    • Stefon Diggs (WR):819 receiving yards, 6 touchdowns (returned mid-season after injury)
Cool! Instant gratification and we don't even have to play the season.

Agreed with you TRM,
Personally the talent, attitude and aggression as well as coaching that the defense alone has i don't foresee them losing more than 4 games. Maybe I'm too optimistic but I just can't see teams just moving the ball on us up and down the field like last season. Your right this roster is far more talented than the 2021 roster.. with fake #1 wr in Nelson alghalor. An old defense and fragile QB.

To o many variables such as injuries that it can't foresee

And so where the Commanders in 2023, but won 12 games in 2024 with a rookie QB. The 2022 Texans were one of the worst teams in football and won 10 games with a rookie QB and HC in 2023. Pats won 10 games in 2021 with a rookie QB in Mac Jones who everyone hates, but asking for Maye to get anywhere near that as the #3 overall pick with a better team/coaches is out of line? Lol. There are turnarounds every season that come out of nowhere. Nobody saw the Falcons ripping off 14 wins and leapfrogging the 49ers in 1998 who were always known to be mediocre. Who the hell saw the Colts cutting in front of the entire AFCE in 1999 winning 13 games after winning 3 a year prior? The St. Louis Rams were the laughingstock of the league only to become the best team in football overnight from 1999-2001. The 1999 Eagles won 5 games, but won 11 the next year. Pats were regarded as the worst team in football going into 2001 and the won the Super Bowl that season. The list goes on.

What you're really doing is downplaying Maye and the team because you don't want to be disappointed and there's a fear this will set them back to irrelevancy if Maye, their draft picks and FA signings bust. If Maye is a good player at the very least, it will be impossible for them not to win at least 9 games with this schedule. Their only excuse is injuries. This team and coaching staff are capable.

I'm looking forward to seeing the hypocrites coming out of the woodwork and saying they saw this happen when the Pats surprise people.

Nobody is saying it isn’t possible, but claiming that’s it’s the bar to acceptability is a whole other standard. I’m as big an optimist as anyone, and I predicted they were going to have a great offseason numerous times before it began, so I’m looking forward to this season. But that’s very different than saying that if they don’t go from the toilet to the playoffs they failed. And I doubt any reasonable fan would have railed against the Texans or Commanders had they missed the playoffs that following year.

… it has Polk with 90 rec and over 900 yrd receiving
Right after I saw those stats I immediately thought that AI is on cyber crack.
For stuff like this, it does very little analysis and mostly aggregation of what's been out there on the interwebs.
Although the Polk thing doesn't make sense regardless of how it got there.
Only thing that makes sense would be if it was trained by a delusion subset of PatsFans posters who still think Polk is on track for a breakout season.

The record is a legit prediction. Everything else is an impossible pipe dream.

Ok so if this is right (it's not) They'll go 15-2 and be the 1 seed, and not only that, be one of the top 10 offenses in the history of football.

The quality of the prompt, the data sources and the LLM model are paramount. If you want a quality result, those better be right. And obviously, they weren't. I did a bit of AI myself in my younger days, and am very familiar with most of the LLM tools and with generative AI in general. Maybe I should do this right? I bet we could crowdsource a prompt here that would perform well. This could be a fun annual feature for the doldrums before training camp, and the feedback would be gold for the next iteration.

I agree
I posted 11 wins elsewhere
need some health
need Vrabel, Williams, McD and Marrone to be half of what we all expect them to be
need the free agents to bring a level of professionalism and accountability that has been missing the past 3-4 years.
