Deandre Hopkins Visiting Patriots Next Week

Setting the all time NCAA accuracy record at Alabama doesn't mean that he can throw accurately in the NFL. Any good QB would have set records at Alabama with those receivers.
I'm not sure the quality of WRs is going to cause as much of an impact on accuracy percentage as you think. I saw him make some ridiculously accurate throws.

He is just speculating. Nothing to see here.
Yeah not sure what he said makes sense. Why would a team that’s trying to sign him want to wait until training camp. Get him signed asap let him learn the playbook and work with his new qb.

It makes sense for Hopkins to wait if he thinks that he will get more money by waiting, from the patriots, or from another team. The extras time allows his agent and other teams to explore and negotiate.

teams don't want to wait. If they are willing to offer enough for the player not to consider other deals for the next couple of months, then I'm sure his agent will bring Hopkins any increased offer.

Makes sense in a way for Hopkins yeah but not the team.

Not sure it even makes sense for Hopkins. As teams get into training camp and closer to the season one would think his value will only go down as he wont have as much time to acclimate to the offense/gain chemistry etc.

I mean all hes banking on is if I keep taking visits teams will offer more and more money. But teams also aren't dumb. they will know what tennesee and Patriots offer. They will offer similar.

Yeah I’m sure there’s interest from other teams but I haven’t heard anything in regards to another visit.

I see I don't get the "wait to see if someone gets injured in camp to get a better deal" line of thinking. What are the odds that there will be a team that will lose their #1 WR for the season and would be willing to pay Hopkins far more than he is being offered now by teams who are looking at him for a two or maybe three year solution? Any team looking for him to replace a player with a significant injury is looking for an one year stop gap and not someone for multiple years.

Plus he risks the teams hot on him now moving on. The Patriots have a complicated offense. Is Belichick going to want to throw a new receiver into the mix two or three weeks into camp or is he going to say we will just go forward with the players they have? He has added players to the mix in the past into training camp or even during the regular season and mostly it hasn't worked out or there was a long learning curve. The only in season or in camp addition at receiver I remember working out near immediately was Branch, but he knew the offense and Brady.

By this logic, no player should sign in free agency until camp. Hopkins is still a player with value. He is still a pretty #1 WR. He isn't at the point where he is a player well beyond his prime who really is more of an one year stop gap player who can fill in for a player in a pinch. I think he would be taking an unnecessary risk waiting for training camp because I don't think the money will be any better.

As others have alluded to above, it probably won't happen today. Hopkins has nothing to gain by agreeing to sign with the Pats immediately.

There aren't many teams with enough $ left to sign him. If he doesn't like his options, he should just sign a 1-year deal with someone and then sign with whomever he wants next year.

Exactly, I mean most FAs would want to sign during this period before camp starts to get acclimated... yes absolutely get him signed so this isn't lingering on into camp!

Yes he does the opportunity to play with the Great Mac 10.

I wonder if their is a workout and if Mac with throw a little. It's probably happening around this time if so.

Mac is going to have to change that number.
Mac 1.0 was okay to v good his rookie year.
Mac 2.0 sucked his sophomore year.
This year we’re on to Mac 3.0, waiting to see how he does. But can he even wear that number?
