OP: If Hopkins is in, you can be sure Parker or Bourne are out.

You: I see the scenarios are getting worse. So now... Hopkins in and Parker AND Bourne out??

Reading isn't your strong suit.
This is another example of a useless interaction. I wasn't even replying to you. I understood everything I read. I said scenarios, which could include Parker cut, Bourne cut, or like I said, both cut. It's a possible scenario and I'm commenting on it. ****ing move along.

You like to think you're the boss of a lot of posters here, don't you?

Why even schedule a visit with Tennessee?

The market must be bad for him.
Everyone is trying to lowball him so they get a great deal.

Hop should wait them out. Some WR will go down for the season and Hopkins can step in.

JuJu Smith-Schuster (with Patrick Mahomes) vs Jakobi Meyers (with Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe)

JuJu (16 games)

Rec 78
R/G 4.9
Yards 933
Y/G 58.3
Y/R 12.0
TD 3
1D 47
Catch% 77.2%
Drop% 5.9%
PR 102.5

Jakobi (14 games)

Rec 67
R/G 4.8
Yards 804
Y/G 57.4
Y/R 12.0
TD 6
1D 38
Catch% 69.8%
Drop% 4.2%
PR 116.0

Receptions and yards per game are nearly identical. Y/R is exactly the same. JuJu had a higher catch% but also a higher drop%. Jakobi had twice as many TDs and a higher passer rating when targeted. A significant variable here is the quarterbacks each had. JuJu had the league MVP. Jakobi had a struggling Mac and a rookie. Then there's the Andy Reid vs Matt Patricia factor. All things considered, Jakobi was the better receiver in 2022. I think any assumption that JuJu will be a "big improvement" (or even any improvement at all) is way off base.

JuJu was very good in his first two seasons (2017 & 2018) with Antonio Brown terrorizing DBs on the other side of the field. That was 5 years ago. I think we saw his current ceiling last season with Reid and Mahomes (78-933-3). I'll like JuJu better if Hopkins joins the team. Otherwise he's a poor man's WR1.

A few things.

  • - Meyers was the #1 target in New England. Schuster was not in KC.
  • - Schuster got hurt mid season and wasn't the same after that.
  • - Schuster had 465 yards (6.0 YAC average) after the catch last year. Meyers had 238 (3.5 YAC average).
  • - Here is the rest of the years for both:
    • Schuster
    • 2018 - 648 (5.8 average)
    • 2019 - 229 (5.5)
    • 2020 - 409 (4.2)
    • 2021 - 61 (4.5) He only played 5 games
Meyers
2019 - 114 (4.4)
2020 - 216 (3.7)
2021 - 222 (2.7)

It is quite clear that Schuster is a far better YAC receiver than Meyers. For an O'Brien offense, Schuster a far better fit than Meyers. Meyers catches the ball and goes down. You can hit Schuster in stride and he can pick up 5-10 or more yards after the catch.

I see it as a red flag. If the league thought he would be a difference maker, they would be lining up for him.

both the widerights and cheatfs balked at his price tag when working on a trade for him... i thought 15 a year was good value for hopkins... but considering how off base i was this offseason in wr values, im not so sure anymore...

like that term "widerights"...until they finally get over the hump that pebble will forever stick in their sandals (or is that L.L. Bean snow shoes?}

On Sunday? Curious why they're announcing his visit 4 days early.

Titans have some cap space but not a ton, less than NE this year and next year. I also have a hard time seeing Tennessee giving Hopkins a bag after dumping AJ Brown just recently because he wanted to be paid.

Could be to drive his stock up...maybe set up by his agent? I don't think he's made any visits yet. That's the problem when you become a FA a month before TC starts - there's no more $ left.

If its not here better it be somewhere like tennessee or Cleveland
Agree but also wouldn't mind if he goes to Buffalo or KC, does ok but not great for one year, and counts like 15M against their caps for 3 years

I'm torn on this in general. There are a few red flags with this situation that give me pause: Two teams have basically given him away, and his market appears very thin so far in free agency. He's also a slower, contested catch type of receiver which the Patriots typically don't feature well, and he's got reports of not being a good practice player. When you're trying to re-establish the fine details in your system, having your best WR not all in isn't ideal IMO.

That said, he is still REALLY good and would instantly become their best receiver. So if they think it's worth it, no doubt he's a boost to the offense. I just wonder if they'd be better served using this year to learn about Mac Jones, find out if he's the guy with a collection of good (but not great) weapons and then, if he passes that test, go all in on a big shiny toy next year when they've got a ton of cap space and a year of polish under O'Brien.

I think D-Hop is leagues better than Parker as a contested catch type receiver. Also Hopkins put J Meyers type numbers in 7 games last year I think Mac would look real good with him.
