Ignore that the author chose a salacious title. Meat from Dante’s quotes:

“We’ve always had that guy, a guy who moved the chains,” said Scarnecchia. “Whether it was Wes Welker, Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola when all else failed, he was that guy. But they don’t have that guy right now.”

“They gotta get a better supporting cast around (Mac),” said Scar. “They don’t want to hear that, but that’s the truth. Other than Jakobi Meyers, who do they got?”

Personally I agree. Mac had a very methodical development and a leash, but if we don’t get WR’s soon we are setting him up to have a low ceiling and to fail. No defense respected our passing game this year and it showed.

Our passing game isn’t feared since 3 years now , it has not improved, it‘s ok with a rookie qb and cam season and Brady with crap weapons but it seems we really need to fight for even a couple of passing yards and nothing comes easy here. Every long down you think it’s a drive killer. And for next year we should expect an improvement because Mac gets more experience in the system as well as our targets and it’s not like we got 4 rookies there , we signed 4 veterans with Bourne Agholor Smith and henry, who her combined what like 40 Million or something around that. The passing offense needs to improve or McD should be on the hot seat no matter what he is doing a good job with Mac or not

He’s right. I posted something similar not long ago. Mac needs a Welker/ Edelman/Troy type guy.

Where do you say Meyers and Bourne operate best slot or wideout serious question ?

Scar is only half right. He needs more time in the pocket too. Even if it's only a half of a second. I want our draft to concentrate on the lines. Shifty guys and roleplayers are more easily found than large powerful men with stamina. He was giving the line a pass.

The "they don't want to hear that" comment regarding a binkie is very disturbing if it's an accurate quote.
Bill outside of 2007 has never really valued WR's. We rested on Troy and Deion early on but then basically killed ourselves in 06 when we ditched Deion Branch. Then we fell into Edelman who was a 9th round QB we happened to turn into a really remarkable WR story. But we constantly low balled Amendola. We got Cooks for a rental and then decided we didn't need to pay a guy like that (if he was here that would have solved so many problems and honestly Brady might still be around) and we struggled ever since to replace a quality guy like that. We just rolled the dice with washed dudes like Wayne and Thomas (RIP) who couldn't make it out of the off season, we wanted Decker who was done and had a foot out the door, we were stupid and pulled the plug on Matthews after one off season injury. Then we thought we could "fix" Gordon because he was clearly a cheap option and we had to play the value game... we got burned. Then the AB stuff which I can forgive Bill for but it's another case of taking a guy with clear issues because of the monetary value and putting your passing game on a tight rope.

It doesn't help that Harry probably made them gun shy in drafting. But let's be real, there was a hot WR draft the year after Brady left and rather than make a move they watched a huge run happen right in front of them where they could have traded up and then traded out. So they got what they deserved in that respect for being so passive.

Anyways they need WR's. That's just a fact. If they don't, Mac will have a ceiling and 3 years from now we will be talking about whether we should extend him because you can't develop a QB under these scenarios. It's not reasonable.

Are we really missing a slot guy? We have Bourne and Myers.

We do need better quality at the receiver position.
Myers/Bourne/Agholor/Harry/Wilkerson is just not good enough for prime time.

Mac does need more time, or needs to learn to release faster, Consider that Big Ben adapted when his line didn't give him enough.

I question this as well. We have Bourne Meyers who excel more in quickness than speed . I know they can play outside but I think they are better as slot guys . We also have Smith and Henry for the MOF, so in Theory defense could stack the mof bc we operate their most and this helps them defending the run.
We have outside of Agholor no real outside threat who opens up the MOF and stretches the defense .

Meyers and Bourne are no Edelman or Brown or Welker lol. Those are all legitimate number 1's in that spot. Which if this team wants to be built on having a guy be the safety valve and spark of the passing game, they need to be better than Bourne or Myers. Bourne and Myers are very very solid number 3 receivers on most teams. Here they are being asked to be the top guys.

Maybe they need a better qb man.

he puts some more air on that Hyde int, that’sa touchdown early in the game

That was an OUTSTANDING defensive play. Outstanding play beats good to very good every time.
Even TFB occasionally misses seeing a safety converging at hypersonic speeds.
Also Algore (sic) could also have fought for the ball.

Dude.... that was more of a good play than a bad pass. It wasn't a perfect pass. But it was a pass that 99% of QB's including Brady and Rodgers wouldn't expect to be intercepted

The consensus has been circulating a while now: Mac needs a quick, reliable go-to slot guy.

Agree with this 100%, but Mac would also have benefited greatly this year from a healthy James White.

I don't understand the near-total disappearance of J.J. Taylor, just guessing it must be his lack of blocking ability.

It wasn’t a perfect pass.

you’re right.
Youre correct. The ball should have been thrown over Agahlor head and in front of him. There was plenty of room for Agahlor to run under it.

It wasnt. The ball was behind Agahlor. He had to reach back and let the pass arrive.
