I wonder if some of the Pats players are not taking this as seriously...either that our covid test kits are out of whack. We seem to be getting hit more than any team except Tennessee. I know the team is taking an extraordinary amount of precautions at the facility, but not sure about the players after they leave the stadium...

The victim blaming is strong in here. The reality is that long incubation times are a ***** and that nothing about the virus is following some linear schedule.

Ultimately you can thank the league for forcing the KC game and then after people kept showing positive only moved the Denver game by a week and cancelled a BYE that would have resolved the entirety of the incubation time conundrum.

yep this is on the nfl's incompetence

I think we play. The league will just make us sit anyone who was in close contact with the infected.
Playing with fire. The league already ramped up the protocols after the TEN outbreak.

Either that, or this is just showing the tests they use with their eight day windows aren't good enough.

Nothing's changed, till it changes.

From the Broncos point of view this has to be just as frustrating if not more:

This is getting absolutely ****ing ridiculous. Is anyone sick?

At some point you have to play the games. We were fortunate they moved the Denver game. Other teams that have only had a small amount of cases have played (Atlanta, Chiefs, Bears, Raiders). I am not sure why the Pats are being this overly cautious when other teams are playing.

The NFL is screwed.

It's so cute how media hacks respond to each other on Twitter

Interesting contrast to the praise-filled thread we had on Curran's article about the Pats charting their own course, calling their own shots, yada yada.

Makes me wonder when BB and/or the 'veteran team leadership' decides to pull the plug on the whole thing.

Wouldn't that be something? The Pats just walk away from the season. Kraft would never allow it but just to see the look on Goody's face when some toadie in the league office tells him the Pats have opted to forfeit the season to protect their players and staff.

I agree. The Pats could follow protocols here from the league and practice with mask, shields, etc. but Bill decided to shut it down to not put anyone in danger. If this was going to be their approach then Bill/Kraft should have opted out of the season. I don't see how they play or have any practices if this is the stance they will take with a positive test.

Coach Bill doesn't strike me as a guy who's going to quit playing games because of this "thing"...The infallible McCourty Brothers on the other hand...

We don't know the upshot or results of having those games played. We'll know soon. I'm predicting it's going to go the same way as European soccer games. They isolate the infections, play the games with non-infected players, only to find out that those players actually had a viral load and that they ended up infecting the entire team. Same thing happened with Genoa and Napoli. One team infected Genoa the prior game, then Genoa played Napoli with ZERO positive infections, only to report a few days later that 75% of the roster was Covid +. And then Napoli started getting positives the following week. They actually forfeited a game (it wasn't even postponed) and they sent all players to a bubble (not even a quarantine at home). While the league penalized them for forfeiting a game against Juventus. And now, Juventus players are Covid +, and the league looks idiotic.

Tell that to the families who are suffering a major loss of income. And I don’t mean the athletes.

This is just politics though, and we can't discuss it here, but in other places, they've addressed the loss of income through other means.

Easier said than done. There is legit suffering out there from people who are perfectly healthy. I am not despicable enough to tell those people “it’s just a game.” And I don’t consider it political to have compassion for those people.
