Agreed I posted these a few pages ago.or Shanahan thinks Fields could do it, Fields did have 1100 yards and 19 TD rushing on 260 rushes in college
again, Fields is the poster boy for Shanahan's football QB guru camp

99.9% of posters here would get laughed out a room if they tried breaking down tape. With all due respect I've literally never seen anything special from anyone here. She's very good at what she does.So between "human interest" stories on their fishwrap magazine she's breaking down tape now?
@patfanken and you are the two people who I look to for "breaking down tape". There are certain others who beat their chest and claim that they know what they're talking about, but they've only shown that they really don't know much of anything. It's why I laugh at them when they make ridiculous claims about a "look they saw a coach give" or some other garbage.99.9% of posters here would get laughed out a room if they tried breaking down tape. Search is hit or miss for me too. I can't find some stuff I know I wrote or will have np finding it. Anyway I like Turner in the 3rd as well.I've been watching more of Payton Turner lately, and although his technique is raw, he's got all the physical tools we look for in an edge player. He should be firmly in the mix from our third-rounder onward. Big, powerful guy with some real burst. Experience playing everything from stand up 9- to interior 3-tech. He averaged over two tackles for a loss and a sack a game this season, although who knows if those numbers would have been sustainable across an entire season (he only played 5 games). I'm having problems with the search function, so I wasn't able to see if @BaconGrundleCandy already covered Turner, but I'd be interested in his thoughts.
I wouldn't put myself up there. I might have a small clue about a small %. Mina is a smart girl though. I might not agree with her about some stuff but she's smart & insightful. I don't watch that stuff on TV but once and a while I'll check her out on those Twitter clips. She's entertaining as well.@patfanken and you are the two people who I look to for "breaking down tape". It's also why I ask questions about the things that I see. Because I KNOW there is plenty that I don't know and look to the people who have shown they DO know for guidance.

Very raw very little idea what he's doing but his length, explosiveness & size are real. He'll do a lot right but get his rush tripped up on one or two missteps. I think he does a good job at using his length but could be better, more specifically a lil quicker at times. That stab he uses will be one of his go-to's next level and could/should improve on timing & quickness there. Work off that. His swipe. Develop some power, long arm, push/pull. Has a decent inside move crossing face.
He's a easy mover, ankle flexibility & agility in his game. You'll see it working off, around blocks. Nice lateral movements. Plays a lil tall but that'll happen. Get him in a program for a year to really add some strength. That should help some concerning working through and off contact.
Like his upside as a rusher & run defender. Definitely our type. Maybe we keep the tradition up with teammates and take him and Stuard? We're definitely taking a pair again I think haha.
Think he really could be an effective piece if he gets stronger. Especially if his technique and plan improve. Could see those reps inside from 0 3 4 5 .. It makes sense bc he is explosive, has + closing speed. Get him on a straight path.
He's a fun one.
Paye is another one that can be a really good all around run defender. Play/back side, straight up, outside contain. Like Oweh big time cornering ability, lots of bend, efficient steps to the QB. Lots of strength, COD & flexibility. We absolutely have to have a strong opinion(s) on him considering how often we've drafted there recently.

The thing is he could get so much better. He's actually not a great deep threat rn but has unbelievable speed and acceleration. He could improve his tracking, timing & refinement on some of the deep stuff. Off the los. Hands could improve some.this is the guy we desperately desperately desperately need in our offense!
Time to face reality, none of the top 5 qb’s will be available past 8.
Waddle is a weapon every time he steps on the field! His speed and suddenness make him almost uncoverable! He is bb’s new matchup nightmare.
I broke down hard copy PHOTOS when I played ball at B.U. I spent way too much time in my 30's and 40's breaking down what little tape I could get access to. At its' core this game comes down to blocking, tackling and executing. I held a press pass until BB took over. I held my old biases until I realized BB pulled off something I could never begin to understand. What I'm trying to say is the days of busting through the A and B gaps and throwing against man to man coverage every game, every season became deader than disco.. The game changes so much it's always a refresh or update. You never know everything. I'm sure @patfanken could teach us all a thing or two about a thing or two.
Tough call, either. Turner has more upside but Basham is a little more ready imo. Turner & Sample are nice consolations that could be better than Boogie. Sample doesn't get enough love. Tight but tough. Heavy hands, decent rush variety and strength. He's in that mold minus Turner's length.Payton Turner or Boogie Basham as a strong-side DE here?
As long as we get waddle, the rest is gravy! The thing is he could get so much better. He's actually not a great deep threat rn but has unbelievable speed and acceleration. He could improve his tracking, timing & refinement on some of the deep stuff. Off the los. Hands could improve some.
He's a perfect fit for us in terms of what we need and a place to develop. He won't asked to be a 100/1200 guy. Just ease him in and develop slowly while we have the time and targets in front of him. Right now we have a lot of targets, threats to work the MOF/intermediate sideline-flat. If we had another deep threat that can do some work behind the los-horizontally. That would go a long way. Waddle, Moore, Atwell ... We have a few options. Waddle (rd1) & St Brown (rd2) would take this particular offense to different levels. Especially next year after, hopefully a little development.
That would be tough for DC. How would you deploy your S & Box defenders? Waddle's speed, Smith & Henry controlling the MOF. St Brown moving around, moving the chains. Good luck defending that lot.
Kinds words really appreciate it.I broke down hard copy PHOTOS when I played ball at B.U. I spent way too much time in my 30's and 40's breaking down what little tape I could get access to. Ken played the game and coached it, which is why I look forward to his posts every season. YOU have a solid grasp of the nuances, the coverages and the techniques employed in the NFL today and your grasp of player evaluation is the best on this board..ever... IMO. Evolution....the game has taken a quantum leap since 2006 and what you do benefits every fan here. I know I couldn't take the time these days and even if I did, I'd be nothing but another hack like Nick Wright....and Joe Kerr don't play that.
Hey BGC, sorry if I’ve missed this but I just saw a video of Joel Klatt of Fox Sports ranking his top 10 prospects and I like it quite a bit. Notable in his absence is Trey Lance, who while I really like as a prospect, is being aggressively ranked by a lot of people without factoring the risk enough. This guy ranks Fields above Wilson, which I’m also intrigued by. I think too many people are making the mistake of associating him with Haskins. What are your thoughts?
Here’s the clip as well:
This year really will be nuts. That is really the big news here. 49ers want Mac Jones. at #3. So if the Patriots are interested in Fields or Lance, they could still move up to #4 with the Falcons to get their guy. It's a super interesting revelation that Shannahan loves Mac Jones.
