Bedard says Brady was bad against Jets?

It’s a pretty good article. He saw some of the same things I saw. In short, Brady was good but not great. Bedard thinks he’s injured. I don’t know. He doesn’t look like he has complete trust in his supporting cast to me and that’s not crazy. He was better against the Jets - footwork was better, he threw in stride more often and he made some Bradyesque throws. I was impressed at how he moved in the pocket more. Still, Bedard is right; he missed in his reads more than vintage Brady did.

Why do I care about what this scmuck said

And just how do Greg and yourself know what Brady's reads were supposed to be?

We don’t. We’re guessing. Sometimes they’re educated guesses. But if you always need to know every QBs reads then you can’t ever judge any QB, can you?

I’ve watched him for nearly 20 years. Something is off, though he was better against the Jets.

I also heard on national sports radio last week that the Jets, and particularly Darnold, were "good" against the Pats, were moving the ball, and the only reason the score wasn't closer is because they went for it on 4th down and couldn't convert. Of course, they forgot to mention that that only happened once (as I recall), after the Jets were already down by 3 TDs. Brady played great last week. He pulled an Aaron Rodgers and threw a TD on a roll out for cripes sake. Who cares what they say. If the Pats somehow get to the Super Bowl and win it, it will be all the sweeter! Let our opponents think Brady played bad in the last game of the year. They will be in for a nasty surprise.

If they win the guaranteed headline will be: " worst team to ever win the superbowl".

And, thus, claims about reads are inherently worthless.

Of course you can.

Belichick spoke on the subject, and he made it abundantly clear that Brady blowing reads has not been an issue this year.

50 or so articles praise Brady’s game

1 article bashes Brady’s game

Which one do think gets its own thread here?

I think it's reversed this year. Most articles are bashing Brady, at least from what I see.

Bedard is a jackass whose entire schtick has devolved into ripping on the Patriots for increasingly stupid reasons... but if everyone wants to spend the next 2 weeks telling Brady how he sucks and can't play anymore I'm cool with that.

It is a review of Brady's play through watching the coach's tape of the game, which Bedard has just gotten around to doing. He is genuinely surprised to find a high number of plays where Brady performed poorly. He makes a good case.

There's no value in any reaction from anyone who doesn't read it.
there is no value in bedards opinion. so why pay to read it?

Brady had one abortion-level awfulness of an overthrow to Hogan. Otherwise looked great IMO.

I do not listen to, read or otherwise pay attention to that fatheaded blabbermouth, Betard.

He is as inconsequential a sports media figure as I've ever had the disgust to experience. A jerkoff.

"I can't disagree with that."

I don't have to agree with any of them - but I enjoy differing viewpoints
and/or commentary on something I may have and probably did miss.

Bedard's Breakdown: As regular season concludes, Tom Brady still not near his MVP level | Boston Sports Journal

Here's a taste on 1/2 of the ones he writes about.
Fourth play of the game, first pass: A simple toss to Julian Edelman goes for 11 yards, but could have gone for much more if Brady didn’t throw the ball high and behind Edelman and force him to do a pirouette with no one around and no pressure on Brady.

First play of the second drive: A perfect example of this season’s Lesser Brady. Patriots go play-action, which sucks in the linebackers. This is their bread-and-butter bang action, usually for a big play to any receiver running the slant over the middle. The Jets are playing man coverage and Edelman has dusted his cover guy (which he did all day — poor Buster Skrine) over the middle and is open with huge YAC potential. But Brady never sees it, goes to a more difficult contested throw (in the sun) to Dorsett for 6 yards.

6:29, first quarter: Jets in man coverage, Edelman breaks the ankle of Skrine to one side, James White has room to roam on a slant. Where does Brady go with the ball? To James Develin for 2 yards.

54 seconds, first quarter: Throws incomplete to Rex Burkhead on a swing pass vs. zone. Doesn’t wait to see Dorsett wide open on same side.

Did that really happen? (Not rhetorical)

I saw the pats beat the jets badly
Which, what they said or Brady on a roll-out? Yes, some doofus on a national show claimed, assuring everyone that she watched the whole game, that the Jets and Darnold played well against the Pats (it was a discussion about how nobody is "afraid" of the Pats any more). I drove along laughing in my car. (I do that a lot, plus singing; I can only imagine what I look like to those going by).

Numbers 2 and 4 serve as an example of why I talk about Bedard being hit and miss, and why I noted his determination to find Brady as "just ok" this year. In the second one, he's blaming Brady for not going to what he considers the obvious first read. In the fourth one, he's blaming Brady for taking the quick read. If you're going to analyze plays based upon things that are just your guess (in these cases, how plays should have been read), you have to at least be consistent with the foundation for the guesses, and he's not doing that.

That perfect throw on the run was a thing of beauty. I can’t remember the last time I saw Brady throw on the run that crisply
