Boy you're just throwing that joke out there a lot...
I was yelling get down at my tv. Not worried about injury. But, a fumble forced from behind like Jax game. No cheap shot. Hard tackle IMO
A defender that is up right like this and could easily make a form tackle
but ends up coming in like this
Should be flagged and don't give me "it's tough to call". They seem to easily make the call on defenseless receiver hits. They also seemed to make the call on the Smith-Schuster hit.
He protects himself by being a football player?? What does that mean???...
A whole lot of hyperbole follows, half the football players?? The reality is that the NFL pays lipservice to concussions and does little about it on the field, in the cases of Cooks and Gronkowski both hits could have been avoided.. if they were really serious they would look at alternative punishments as was suggested, but as they don't this will continue..
Conversely the Gronk hit on the Buffalo player should have been handled the same way...
What I want is the game to change so these guys get better protection from avoidable hits to the head so these guys can have the lives they deserve post football..
Cannot conceive of any way to blame Cooks for that hit..
With two other defenders that nearby, Jenkins' best option - for his team - would have been a wrap-up tackle while attempting to punch the ball out for a turnover. Even if Cooks breaks that tackle he isn't getting very far afterward.
Honestly its really a miracle Cooks didn't fumble the ball since he was knocked out cold.
Similar to when Ridley got knocked out in the 2012 AFCCG, effectively handing the game to the Ravens.
According to a guy in the Patriots subreddit Cooks just recently visited Canada.
Looks to pretty much fine...
Are we sure he's OK? He felt compelled to get pictures of himself around Vancouver...
I have no problem with this play by Jenkins. Cooks has to know at this point in his career that the DBs are gonna look to put a huge hit on a WR, given the opportunity. Make a statement on D. "You're not coming in here." None of us know intent. I believe Jenkins was looking for a big hit, not trying to injure. Cooks should have known in the second quarter of the SB, he needed to get down. The situation did not call call for a miraculous play. We've seen the video of Josh McDaniels telling the running backs to "not try and do too much" during the Atlanta SB. That's the coaching point here.
The coaching point there is a lot simpler. Dont turn your head away from the direction you are running. Especially not around the middle of the field. The hit is substantially less devastating if he sees it coming. I was actually shocked that Cooks hang on to the ball and didnt fumble it.
Yeah, I read that thread too this morning. The poster said that he spent several hours with Cooks - one commenter asked him if Cooks seemed okay considering the shot he took a couple weeks ago, and the poster said that he seemed 100% fine but didn't ask specifically.
In August, before Preseason Game 1.
His head's okay, but that non-throwing shoulder is still bothering him...
He had two really odd plays. One when he tried to hurdle a DB and did not pick a first down and the other when he danced around and was knocked out. I will coach em' up.
Cooks showed questionable field awareness (and decision making) on that play, as well as the leap frog play.
Both very unfortunate since all he was doing was trying to make a play, but for all of the talk about how the stage would be too big for Philly etc, many of our guys showed some nerves, too, as did the coaches.
I’m sure Cooks would love to have both of those plays back, as they were quite important.
Situational football was very poor from our part not only on these plays but also in others - that I will point out in a specific thread as soon as I get some free time to review some plays - which also is on the coaches.
I don't really get with what kind of mindset our coaches went into that game, a little bit of overconfidence maybe?
Cooks will be even better next season. He was starting to heat up with brady. I hope he works out with edelman this coming offseason.
He isn't invited to Brady and Pals summer clinic
We tell our players to keep their head on a swivel. If they get ear holed, then they screwed up. I’m glad he’s okay. He’ll learn and get better. I have no doubt this upcoming season he won’t be an even bigger star. C’mon Brady. Invite him out with you and the boys. Let some of that attitude rub off on ‘em.
