In 2018, they gave him a huuuuuge amount of cash upfront. I can’t find the thread from 2018, but I called it one of the worst contracts in NFL history. Why? He had no leverage, and the amount of front-loaded money set the table for another huge dispute. He received $147M in cash within six months of signing.
With two years remaining on his previous contract, according to multiple reports Rodgers will receive $67 million by the end of 2018 and more than $80 million by March next year
The deal makes the 34-year-old the highest-paid player in NFL history, with more than $100 million guaranteed over an additional four years.

Now here we are. Green Bay gave up
that much cash as a big risk. What did they get in return? If he’s still playing at a high level, they can choose to keep him and have him retire with the team and his salary is likely to be a bargain by then. EXCEPT that was never going to happen…the team has always given him over the top hero worship and kissed his ass. They spun the contract as a lifetime deal; it wasn’t. Now the deal has become a mockery.
I wish I could find that thread.
