If we pick in the top 10 (extremely unlikely), one pick isn’t going to save us.
The first rd is littered with misses top to bottom every year.
So not only are you suggesting top 10 is possible, you completely ignore the fact that top 10 picks bust too.

If we trade that 1st round pick and its in the top 10 then the AJ trade would be a complete disaster.

That is exactly my point. If PHI was still negotiating and wanted more, they could leak the deal, same for NE and Brown's agent.

HOWEVER, if the dealing is over and reading for signature, then no party has incentive to leak the deal.

I thought it was self explanatory: "better than" is dependent on availability. He's a far superior receiver than Boutte, but has a significantly higher risk of missing time. There's a real/significant chance that Boutte, based on availability, could have a more productive year(s) than Brown.

Consensus on the web is that he is a very good run blocker for a WR, with some key Eagles' runs helped by him sealing the perimeter. He certainly takes pride in his blocking.

Rumor is the deal is done and it is a 2028 first. Not sure if that is the case. But a 2028 first is the equivalent of a 2027 second rounder. It is far less than the Broncos gave up for Waddle (Waddle and the Broncos' 4th for a 1st, 3rd, and 4th rounder) and about the same of what the Bills gave up for Moore (DJ Moore and a 5th for the Bills' 2nd). At least in the short term, I would take Brown over those two receivers.

But I still wouldn't be surprised if there was a pick swap in addition in the Pats' favor like the Pats giving up a sixth rounder for an Eagles' fifth rounder.

I know many won't agree. But if it is a 2028 first, Wolf did a good job. The 2027 draft is supposed to be historic so I would rather give up a 2028 first than a 2027 second. And considering the original asking price was a first and a third or better, that is good value.

By that logic you would never trade a first round pick, and that makes absolutely no sense at all.
