Patriots Rumor A.J. Brown trade rumors heat up - Should Patriots get him?

A report indicating the Patriots are potentially in the market for this player, or have expressed or plant to express interest.
It will be funny if they trade a 2028 first for him (with something like a 3rd coming back) and he goes on to be extremely productive this year, and again next year or even more so, and they become title contenders yet again... In hindsight trading a first round pick basically 3 drafts away from now would look pretty good at that point.

I realize to many "a first is a first" but the time component is important. A first in 2028 is not the same as a first in 2026. The common logic subtracts a round for each year that passes, so a 2028 first is equal to a 2026 third. While I don't think it's really quite that simple in reality, there's some merit. A 2026 third would've gotten you a player this season who could start, depending on the position. A 2028 first is probably a quality starter, but you won't have him til 3 years from now. In the NFL, typically you want more immediate help as it is a very "what have you done for me lately" league.
Yes if we trade our 2028 1st and get a 3rd rounder back that will take a lot of the sting out of the trade because you at least get a top 100 pick back. Also 2028 is a long ways away and AJB would help us win right now and give Maye his go to receiver for a lot of plays. This also makes all the lesser WRs more effective since AJB will attract a lot of attention from the defense.

We will soon see the details of the compensation but it feels like this is almost inevitable move and right now it's just a bit of public posturing and wrangling on the details before it finally happens.

I don't want to give the first for Brown either, but if he comes in and lifts up the offense the way Diggs did for Allen, and it raises up the rest of the offense then it will be worth it. And I hate the idea of giving up 2 first round picks, but Garrett is special, and I would make that deal. I think the Patriots braintrust believes they can win a Lombardi by making the right big move, so I'll live with whatever they decide, because they have earned that trust imo.
Absolutely I defer to this current brain trust. They have earned my confidence. I just feel AJ’s value is not a straight up 1st. But that is just all of us on here playing GM when we actually work at 7-eleven. If they get him I will be excited

The other thing adding Brown will do is add to their ability to play bully ball without sacrificing receiving options. If they put out a lineup with Brown and Doubs at WR, Gilliam and Stephenson in the backfield with Henry or Raridon at TE they are going to be able to bully defenses in the run game while maintaining all of their options in the passing game. I think their offseason was all about becoming more physical on both sides of the ball, and they are going into this season with as physical a team as any in the league.

Tomorrow is the day.

So the ‘window’ starts at june 4 pm ? That means it could happen tomorrow if so

Tomorrow at 3:00 pm will be like when the brownies are in the oven and you just start to smell them

This can't be leaked like "in a deal to be submitted Monday?" Nobody in the world can know at 3:55 PM that that the trade has been agreed???

We know player signings a few days before the tampering period. Guys getting cut are leaked before they hit the streets.

If two teams are trading isn't June 1st at 4:00 PM just the hour the paperwork is submitted?

Why wouldn't we know about a trade earlier?

I loved Brandin Cooks. If he hadn’t have gotten that concussion early in the SB vs Philly, I think the Pats would’ve won that one. He was a huge difference maker all year, especially since we lost Edelman in the preseason to a knee injury.

Surely is possible we would know earlier

Because the brownies are not fully cooked till 4:00 pm

There is no reason for PHI, NE or Brown to leak the deal until after 4PM.

Or Mac Hollins subbing for Doubs and then both Wr’s can punch you in the nose

I just feel something would show up somewhere.

It's really not a deal yet.

Not that it won't be.

Yeah there’s no reason they can’t announce the deal and say that it is agreed to in principle and will be submitted 6/01 at 4:01pm. If that was a week ago it would be in poor form but when we are 24 hours away or less there’s no reason not to just announce it. Only reason you wouldn’t would be if either side is cagey about it and worried the other side will try to pull a fast one after announcing and there’s still time on the clock until processing.

True, but I would say that Boutte is heavily favored to have his knee(s) drained fewer times this season, and less likely to have knee complications.
What does that what to do with veracity of claim that “people here say Boutte is better than Brown”?

Why not? Philly could leak it to show they have deal in place to see if a higher bidder surfaces. Things get leaked all the time, whether it has incentive or not.

You think that Brown is a run blocker?

That is exactly my point. If PHI was still negotiating and wanted more, they could leak the deal, same for NE and Brown's agent.

HOWEVER, if the dealing is over and ready for signature, then no party has incentive to leak the deal.
