As some posters already mentioned, the Chiefs have Patrick Surtain as the #1 CB. Why wouldn't they play Surtain on Moss and Flowers would cover Gaffney. Surtain is a vet and will give Randy a fight, with the help of the safety. I think the biggest mismatch for the Chiefs is who will cover Welker. Go Pats!!!

Just read an article that says the Chiefs Rookie CB Flowers who is 5'9 will be starting up against the 6'4" future HOFer Randy Moss?

If this is true,How does he stop him if the Patriots show no mercy and throw there all day?

If the Chiefs are lucky the weather will be rainy and windy and it will be a grind em out game on the ground like I expect but if not, all I can say is "Welcome to the NFL, Brandon "

He'll be getting help over the top the entire game if the DC is sane... Otherwise it's gonna be a real long day.

Flowers will get a lot of help. He came from a defense that is very system based, very different than NFL systems, and in the bottom half in teaching individual position players. VT players generally don't show nearly as well in the NFL as they did in college, particularly on defense. Other college programs are better oriented to turning out quickly successful NFL players. VT players have to get by on athletic ability until the coaching catches up to them.

Nobody can guard Randy Moss one on one. The Chiefs are going to put a safety over Randy Moss all day or Herm Edwards is the stupidest coach in the NFL. In fact, I'd fire his ass that day if he left a 5'9 rookie to defend Randy Moss by himself.

I don't know why they wouldn't match up Surtain on Moss. Perhaps they feel that Welker is the more dangerous receiver in terms of getting first downs and they want to try and shut him down with their best defensive back.

It wouldnt surprise me to see Flowers take Welker 1-1 all day. Flowers is quick and small(like Welker)and would be almost the perfect CB for a slot reciever.....except that he is a rookie,lol.
