On Sunday night, the sports world was rocked by news that former Boston Red Sox Designated Hitter David Ortiz was shot in the back at a bar.
Ortiz was at Santo Domingo’s Dial Bar Lounge in his native Dominican Republic.
The man who shot Ortiz was identified by local police as Eddy Feliz Garcia.
Garcia reportedly was captured and beaten by a crowd of people at the bar before his arrest.
Ortiz is expected to make a full recovery from the attack and will return to Boston for more treatment at Massachusetts General Hospital.
The investigation into the cause of the shooting remains ongoing.
