Just going to watch the game now , so I will know what to look for. Again as usual I look at the gamecock to try and figure out what went wrong. I may get this wrong more often than not but from this morning I thought...

4 x sacks
Too many rushing yards against us....Moestart again !
Kept Hill under control but Waddle got some yards (what CB's were available)

My gut feeling before reading the post game forum was the OLine/DLine must have struggled.....ah well on to the game.

Also White does not get a mention in the defence stats , what happened to him ??

0-2 just plain sucks.

I have no doubt the Patriots deserved to lose this game but this is the 2nd time in 2 games the Patriots got hosed:

Waddle got hit in the head. PENALTY. Bourne on the next series got hit in the head when player launched. NO PENALTY. Rham gets a bad spot, Belichick challenges, they say too close to overturn. Strange gets spotted a 1st down, they call down from the booth, then overturn.

Not to mention the Strange holding penalty which wasn't, yet killed a drive.
But then there were moments where we got lucky the refs did not call

A clear neutral zone infraction from judon
The Henry Td pass Anderson was far to much away from the LoS blocking downfield

Two reasons for the pressure:

1. OLine was not good. That’s pretty obvious. Not a lot you can do about it right now.

2. Teams will blitz more and be more aggressive with pass rush when your longest passing play for most of the game is 12 yards. That’s due to a quarterback who can’t make dagger throws and no elite playmaker.
Jones deep throw accuracy is just not there
His deep throws are way too high because of his lack of arm.
Of course we also currently lack a WR with deep speed since Thornton is injured. Bourne got outrun by Howard yesterday and Howard was closer to intercept the deep throw

Still tackling issues bother me. Another season and this problem is not solved.
Speaking of OL I knew it would be too pretty to be true to keep stats from first game against Eagles.

Mac throws off his back foot all the time, has horrible form, gets jittery, is inaccurate, etc.

If there are truly people here who wouldn't take Tua over Mac, I think you need to reevaluate what good QB play is.

At the end of games, when teams are throwing the kitchen sink at you, he fails. He takes horrible sacks. He just does not look the part. And better WRs aren't going to help him in these crucial sitautions.
Literally everyone thought Tua was garbage until Hill came to the Dolphins. Switch the QB’s and the outcome is the same. Mac’s throwing to wide open guys with a decent protection and Tua reverts back to the guy he’s always been. Even with a top 3 WR corp everyone in the league can still see that Tia’s flaws are the biggest issue on that offense

The outcomes are not really surprising. We don't have a functional offense. Bb decided Mac only needed one preseason game when he needed all 3. The offense has been slow starting since last season. Got down to the eagles, got down to Miami then rally in the 2nd half to fall short. Mac is anything but clutch. Can't run the ball... probably worst than last yr. Ton of completions but only for 5 yards on average. That was bb tried to do last night. Make them put together 10-12 plays for a drive.

We have a average roster but lack the handful of difference makers. The offensive line was neglected this off season

Brady went without good receivers several years in his career, one year where Reche Bugeyes Caldwell (R.I.P.) was his #1 WR. -But then again not one guy in this room will be alive when the next Tom Brady-type enters the prime of his career
The one time Brady had a line this bad and a WR corp this bad he sulked all year long and then left. Then most of the people on this board were claiming he was the problem and that he was washed. Which clearly wasn’t the case.

Again Mac might not be the guy, but every single elite QB in the league right now is looking like crap with this offense. Mahomes looks mediocre without Kelce. Allen just had a **** game against the Jets and he still has a way better offense than us.

Tua statistically just had a marginally better night than Mac (same amount of TD’s and INT’s, 18 more yards, 8 point higher passer rating) despite Hill, Waddle and Mostert being better than anyone on the Pats offensive squad and a better offensive line

Take aways
Mac played really well, he had some great throws while on the run and when under pressure.

Bourne is fine as a number 2 or 3 wr. He isn't a deep threat and he had to catch that deep ball.

Parker is the best wr on the team, but he has to stop that int.

The OL was horrible, tackles were terrible, strange was terrible, oweanu was terrible. No push at all in the running game.

Stevenson looks slow.

JuJu is not a wr that should get the ball at the LOS. HE IS SLOW SLOW SLOW.

Douglas fumbled. But he is the only guy who can do anything. Taking him out was dumb.

A toss sweep on 3rd and 3 or whatever that was? Too faulking slow.

Mac played well. He is throwing to guys who barely get open and cannot make plays.

Barmore did what tonight? On the radio, Zo ragged on Godchaux a number of times. It was deserved. Big contract and didn’t make plays tonight.
Both of these guys are huge disappointments this far…..No pass rush, weak sister tackling….if we can RARELY get pressure on their QB especially against the better teams ….we are in deep…..

Did anyone really expect the year to be a 10 win year?,i think most of us expected an 8 or 9 win team at best and just excited because football is back - I don't know if 8 wins is a stretch at this point though - its rebuilding phase
No but a lot of people were in denial about how much we still didn’t address skill positions and how talent wise we didn’t really do anything to help the offense. Losing Harris for Zeke and Meyers for Juju weren’t upgraded on an already struggling skill group. Also for a team that clearly needed help on offense last year, not drafting a single offensive player in the first three rounds and then getting 2 WR’s in the 6th isn’t exactly showing a commitment to addressing a weakness

How many starting quarterbacks is Mac Jones better than?
If you put Tua behind our line he would have been out in concussion protocol. With the exception of Jackson and Mahomes who could run for their lives (maybe there’s another few as well). Every starting QB in this league would suck with this ****bag OL

20 pages in... weather update - it's ****ty rainy outside, much like my mood...

Damn I'm late to the game...

Let's start by saying I turned this **** performance off in the 3rd quarter... no big deal, really... ive seen this game 100 times over since Mac got here... Mac Jones is just plain bad as a starter... he is a serviceable back up... I know that sucks to hear, but Mac should take heart... hoyer turned mediocrity into a 20 year career...

Another horrible first quarter set the tone for this game... another big hole to climb out of from the onset, 10 points this time... but those 10 points are an Insurmountable lead for this offense to overcome... we score between 17 and 20 ppg... it feels like the only time we break 20 is when the defense can kick in a score or two...

I got railed pretty hard last week with my comments about Mac... well? It was more of the same yesterday, wasn't it? Can't get the job done... It really doesn't matter if Bob O'Brien or Matt Patricia is calling the o does it? There's no effing difference in the end result...

And God d%#*!@t Bill get a left tackle this year... Trent Brown is not reliable, and hasn't been since we first let him walk...

At least they made a game of it... Pats looked dead in the water late there. (No I'm not calling it a moral victory.)

Mac Jones was the fastest Pats ball carrier in the game at 19.17mph. That makes me want to hurl. Wish we got to see a shot of Reagormeister.

Even Cam had 3 4thQ comebacks / game winning drives in his lone season with the Pats.
Cam the sham was a disaster of a move by BB at the stage in his career Cam was in….and he kept going with him even though every team knew Sham couldn’t throw anymore and was not much better running it…..then last year with the coaching debacle…both of these blunders would have gotten almost any coach fired….Krafty’s patience must be getting very thin

That’s a good time to turn on the game tho….3rd quarter…that’s when they seem to be finally waking up a bit

Good summary and I agree with all of your points. Just no explosive plays from the Pats just methodical when in possession. I think the commentator said around the 8.45 min mark that the Pats had no passing completion over 13 yards. I appreciate that Douglas made a mistake but this punishment just took away someone who could have helped. If they sort out the problems with the OLine then I do think there is a decent offence there.

Davante Parker, Juju Smith.... no show.

I agree, and I don't see the point. Let's say for argument sake that Brady stayed, they hired whoever, and things didn't work out and then like Tampa, Brady retired three years later. They'd be in the same position in the middle of a rebuild with another young quarterback who isn't Brady that they're frustrated can't make this receiving corps look amazing.

It is what it is. I get people are frustrated, but if you play devil's advocate, you essentially end up with three more 10+ win seasons and probably nothing - and still no Brady after year 3 - to show for it.

The guy can't play until he's 50. Gotta let it go.

Say for argument's sake, your HC replaces those 10+ win seasons with an under .500 record for those 3 seasons. They start 0-2 and excuse making aside, don't look great. Also, the HC's plan is to replace 10+ wins with Cam and a noodle armed QB who isn't the shadow of Pennington pre-injury.

If you play the devil's advocate, when is the owner's time to let it go? It being the HC. He can't coach until 80 just to get a record.
