I hate it when commentators give so much credit to coaches when players put exceptional performances. How is the HC the MVP when a DB has 3 picks?

Also sad to see Harrison be on the field. He belongs in the studio instead of Simms.

Worth mentioning Chargers already have 19 minutes time-of-possession.
Jaguars 0/7 on third down. And what's also surprising each team only has one penalty in what was a relatively ugly first half.

This is also a battle of "next generation QBs" and so far it's not impressive. Lawrence is hot garbage and Herbert is OK but his sidearm throws are grating. How many QBs in the NFL under 30 have really proven they are for real? Mahomes, Allen, Burrow? That's about it.

(Of course all 3 are in the AFC... sigh)

Harry has to be the worst WR pick ever given the WRs that were taken after him.
I've said this a million times BUT only 2 of the 9 WRs taken in the 1st and 2nd round are still with the teams that picked them. 5 of the 9 are busts. That's better than a 50% chance of busting.

Now, go back and look at the great WRs of the last 20 years and find the busts before them. There are a lot of them.

This is so much more common than people here imagine: Kevin Dyson before Randy Moss. JJ Stokes instead of Antonio Freeman. Every year has this situation practically.

My favorite of all time though is the 1996 draft when the Raiders took a pass catching TE in Ricky Dudley ahead of Eric Moulds, Marvin Harrison, Eddie Kennison, Amani Toomer, Muhsin Muhammad, Bobby Engram, Terrel Owens, Joe Horn!!! To compound this, the Jets took Alex Van Dyke at 33 ahead of all but Harrison and Kennison. At the top of this draft were Keyshawn Johnson and Terry Glenn. Think of that!

And check this out for 1994

Feels like the NFL's solution to all of the recent criticism about officiating is to just do less officiating. There were no penalties in the first half of the SF game either.

Was thinking the same thing. Once Brady, Rodgers, and Russell Wilson walk away in the next few years, the league is going to start to become pretty diluted. Not a lot of elite talent coming into the league at that position right now. Not many young star QBs, basically just the ones you mentioned.

Herb hasn't really done anything impressive either but Lawrence keeps gifting him the red zone

are you trolling for a Crawstammer drive-by "what about Lamar Jackson???" post?...you're a devious man, Ross

I'd take Herbert ahead of Burrow.

Herbert can take a beating. He stands in there. Has a much better arm. Better accuracy, better runner. Herbert does basically everything better than Burrow.

Herbert's for real. Divisional round in the AFC is shaping up to be Mahomes, Allen, Burrow and Herbert. You could see that coming last spring.

Chargers need to be careful not to get too conservative and let them back in.

In fairness to @Ross12 , I forget about him as well. He's a weird talent. Maybe it's because I hate the Ravens and Harbaugh so much. ;)

He is, but he needs to fix that arm angle. It's awful.

Herb has the better arm but he has lack of touch and not as accurate as Burrow.

Wilson has already fallen apart and Rodgers looks halfway toast too IMO. Brady is a robot and can probably maintain at least above average play for several more years. But, yeah, the "new guard" of QBs sucks.

I always found it fascinating that when a screen is called, the QB never has a second read.
