Opening this up for later tonight.
Getting the early jump I see. I don't mind.
Well the LAR @ Panthers should honestly be a blow out.
LAR 34 Panthers 17 be my guess... maybe they get a meaningless 7 at the end to make it 34 24 to make it not look like such an ass kicking. But their offense is so bad and their D is so mid.
The Panthers are not only 8-9. they are very likely worse than their record indicates. They are at -69 points this year in the worst division in football. They are the 10th worst in point differential in the NFL... by that metric (which is a really good one IMO) they are 23rd ranked team.
If the Rams lose this game it would be one of the biggest choke jobs in playoff history. They have so much more talent than Panthers. If they lose this game it will not matter that Stafford has a super bowl and likely an MVP... this should be held against him in his HOF case. It be THAT bad. To allow a potential super bowl victory on one of the best teams in the NFL.... to be stopped by this Panther's team?
Personally I am not sure what I am hoping for... while i'd love a instant surprise to shake things up and it be funny to throw water on the Stafford parade... it would make the NFC a bit more boring. Realistically it is probably a 2 team race.. LAR or SEA. Everyone else is IMO a tier lower. I don't think anyone else in the NFC has a good chance to beat SEA at home realistically. It would make the NFC side of the bracket much less interesting. But if somehow they lose... then the SEAs trips up (unlikely).... well I like the Pats vs any of the NFC teams left at that point. Assuming they can even get there.
But the football fan in me wants to see good games. And that part wants the Panthers out so they do ruin a divisional game by their presence alone. It is honestly sad enough one of the Packers/Bears is guaranteed a seat at the final 8 table. While the Bears are a good story... they don't feel worthy of it to me. But they are the team i hope wins as they are more interesting and feel like they'd have a better punchers chance... but wouldn't feel like a true threat to win it all. However rarely is every team in the final 8 a true threat. So that isn't new.
For AFC Pats, Denver Jax/Bills, Houston is a worthy final 4. On the NFC one of those teams is guaranteed to underwhelm a bit already... why make it 2?
