Well Grissom only played 37 snaps of defense in the last 2 years so it’s not translating because he isn’t getting a chance. Not that he deserves it but it’s only fair to point out.

Ah, I'll clarify what I was trying to imply: Not that his sack totals or stats weren't translating, more that he looks like he has some defensive ability in the pre-season (often against the 2nd/3rd stringers), but that never translates to an increased defensive role in the regular season.

Grissom is always good for a few sacks in pre-season, but it never translates to the regular season. I think Davis' best way to beat him out for a spot is to make a mark on ST like he does as well.

Grissom has often been better in scrimmage play than another team's #3 OL and sometimes better than their #2s. And he is a very good STer.

Davis, though, seems to me to be in a different category altogether. He started an played extensively with the #1s last night and didn't look at all out of place in either pass rush or run-D. I really don't think he'll need to be a standout STer to get a roster spot.

You win (Wynn?). Shefter just confirmed it.
Yeah once Chao said that I had made peace with the fact that it was probably an Achilles. He’s usually pretty accurate. Sucks and is a big blow for this kid’s career. 3 years in a row now this team has gotten zilch from their top overall picks.

He has a lot of competition for playing time though.
Flowers
Clayborne
Rivers
Wise
Butler

We could have a hell of a nascar package especially with Hightower and Van Noy as lbs as well.

On the bright side, he wasn’t like he was going to start,we have depth (as long as Cannon stays healthy) and of all the positions that could lose a rookie year and recover from it, I’d put ol near the top.

The problem is Cannon can’t stay healthy.

Do we know what Cannon's problem is? Foot/ankle surgery from last year not taking?

Exactly. Now we’re staring at a potential tackle situation of brown/waddle.
The good news is both players have shown a level of competence playing at the NFL level.

The bad news is one has never done it at LT for the NEP and the other, if not for injuries was fighting for a roster spot.

Yeah waddle isn’t a player I would call a beacon of health. Last year alone we’ve seen him dinged up during games having to drop to a knee.

remember when we had a guard who played most of a season on a bum leg?

We need to get some players with that kind of toughness.

Reports said cannon would be ready by the start of the season. We will see. We need the guy to stay healthy for once!

I’ll believe it when he can start getting through multiple games injury free. When healthy no question he’s one of the best RT out there but a players best attribute is his availability (minus the outliers like Jordan Richards)

We're going to see Waddle's backup make at least one start this year. If that player is someone currently on this roster, we are ****ed.

We may not see waddle make a start.
